This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings a handful of changes for the Mustang. V6 models can now get the Pony Package, which includes an upgraded suspension with larger stabilizer bars, 17-inch wheels, ABS, traction control, foglamps and unique trim. The GT gains two additional wheel options, both 18 inches in size, complemented by unique suspension tuning. An additional darker aluminum interior trim upgrade package is now available.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a car with a solid-axle rear suspension can get, slick retro interior, good cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support, low-grade interior plastics.

  • Love my Pony - 2006 Ford Mustang

I have had my Red Fire 2006 V6, 5 speed coupe for a month now. The more I drive it the happier I am I bought it. Having come from ownership of smaller Japanese economy oriented vehicles in the recent past this car was a dramatic change for me. I owned both a 69 and 70 Mustang in the somewhat distant past. My 06 is all that those cars were and so much more! The performance from the 4.0 lt. V6 is impressive. It is deceptively fast and has a very V8 feel and sound to it. The cars handling is very planted, responsive and predictable. I did a 200 + mile fun trip in the twisty mountain roads to the west of here and had a grin on my face the whole time.

I have owned a lot of cars. This is definitely one of my favorites. It is fun to drive. I can actually put my 4 year old in his car seat in the back seat, and it isnt a bad fit. Forget adults however.

  • Fun Car! - 2006 Ford Mustang

Ive only put 700 miles on this car since December 05, as its winter in WI, but thus far, its been fun! I was impressed that it will move on SNOW, as my 96 Mustang GT would not. Ford did a good job adding traction control. The plastic interior could have been dressed up better even though I do have the interior upgrade; without it, would be boring. Punching the accelerator, it moves from 0 to 60 in a heartbeat. Have auto transmission; it seems to shift very quickly through the gears. Am keeping an eye on the 500 Shaker as the CD player is already starting to skip. Like the leather seating, but they could have went a bit richer with the leather. At $28,000 getting a hot head turning car, its great!

  • The 70s - 2006 Ford Mustang

I will be 70 in March and my wife of 46 years will be 69/39 in September 2007. My wifes friends at "Curves Gym" drive convertibles and we had a GT PT Cruiser that was boring us to death. So we went looking for something to make us feel younger and have something we can have for years to come (5 speed 300hp). The car is a 10! Mileage beats our Cruiser in city and highway. "GO FOR IT"

  • Holds up in accident... - 2006 Ford Mustang

I put about ten thousands miles on my Mustang so far and I cant stop. I love the feel of driving this hot car. I was hit on the freeway in LA...the other cars were totaled and I drove away. I was so grateful that I had a tough built Mustang. It really holds up. And always take your Mustang to the Ford dealer for body repairs. I had to learn the hard way.

Own 06 GT in Redfire Metallic with parchment leather interior. Surpassed my expectations. Real head turner. Zero to scary in 5.5 seconds @ 24.5MPG. A real road or drag racer right out of the showroom. Corners and drives tight. Rides firm.

  • Return of the Mustang - 2006 Ford Mustang

I bought this car two weeks ago and have loved every minute I get to drive it. I even think about driving it when Im working. Mine is a beautiful Windveil Blue that brings a tear to my eye every time I see it. And the power! Ive always loved the old 60s Mustangs, but havent been impressed by any of the Mustangs for the past several decades. I was so happy to see a return of the true muscle car look.

  • The Stang - 2006 Ford Mustang

This car can be summed up in one work. AWESOME! I am not a fan of Ford but they did it with this one. I am a converted bow tie owner and havent looked back since. The power and torque are great in factory form but Ford left A LOT on the table. After a couple hundred dollars and a weekend the Mustang can hang with a Vette.

  • A Great Investment! - 2006 Ford Mustang

Ive had my 2006 Mustang V6 for a full month now, and all I can say is WOW! I was surprised at how "throaty" the engine is when revved. Not quite the sound of a V8 but impressive for a V6. Pick-up is very "spirited", a word that Ive seen used in a few magazine reviews to describe the Mustang and I must agree. This was a great buy, Im very happy with my Pony!

On a warm summer day, top down, music blasting, yet you can still hear the rumble of the V-8 engine. When you put your foot into the throttle it jumps like a thoroughbred race horse. Theres nothing like cruising with the top down.
