  • I4 2.5L auto 6-speed transmission woes - 2010 Ford Fusion
    By -

I want to love this car so much, but please do not buy the 2.5L 4 cylinder 6-speed auto like I did. The transmission is different in the two larger engine sizes. The tranny mated with this engine WILL fail. Do some research if you dont believe me. Our transmission problems started a week after ownership. The problems go like this: High RPM "flare" during acceleration on gear shifts 3-4 or 4-5 @ 35+ mph. The car will jerk forward violently. Theres also a very loud "clunk" when you go into reverse. The dealers will not help you until the car is dead. I took it in 3 times before they found a fault. Our fusion has been in service since Feb 8th. Today is March 2nd. Ford has not taken care of us

I had been researching family sedans with manual transmissions and this one is it. The gear ratios are perfectly spaced. Its a blast to drive and is beating the EPA estimates by 3-4 MPG. My wife drives it 90% of the time and loves it. Its only getting 1-2 MPG less than a 2004 Corolla we had before. Its amazingly quiet. If you cant find a comfortable position with the 8 way drivers seat, then youll not be comfortable in any car. The criteria that led us to this car is the Consumer Reports review of the Fusion. It has been on par with all the benchmark cars...Camry, Accord, etc. Plus with the "Sun and Sync" package, it was $4000 less than Accord and $1400 less than Camry.

I wanted to write this review to let others know that i am pleased with this car. I have driven other midsized cars and i have to admit Ford did a good job on this one. I do a lot of highway miles and this car is DRIVERS CAR. Comfort, smooth shifting 6 speed automatic, 8 way power seat, and more! all these features tailor to the driver and even the passenger gets a power seat on the SEL. Fuel is good on a midsized, electric steering is easy to steer in parking lots, but still feels good on highway as well. Highly recommended. The SEL trim is worth the extra $1,200 to upgrade from the SE. GO FORD!!

  • The New Fusion is Awesome - 2010 Ford Fusion

This car is amazing. Ford has done nearly everything right on this car and it is much improved over the 2006-2009 model. I looked into it because of the 2006 Fusion we own, and was blown away at the improvement. Worth every dollar you pay for it. Better than Camry and Accord, and the sticker is lower for the same features.

I traded in a 2003 Mercedes C class on this car and it has been an excellent next vehicle. The Mercedes was a very fine car but I believe this to be even nicer and does in fact offer more features. I am VERY pleased with the design, build quality, features, handling, gas economy, and available room. American cars have come a long way and this is an excellent example. I did quite a bit of research prior to making this purchase and I am 100% satisfied with the vehicle. My job requires me to spend a lot of time on the road and this car has proven to be very comfortable and fun to drive.

I have been overly pleased and surprised by the 2010 Fusion. My mom has a 2006 S 5M and I was looking at a Fusion because of how much I like that car and was blown away by the improvement of the 2010 model. Everything about the car screams quality build, and all the things in the old fusion were addressed (loud, underpowered engine, needed exterior update, needed interior update, even better fuel economy) Ford has really hit the mark with this and definitely has a car that Americans can be proud of, in addition, to besting their Japanese competition.

When we set-out to replace my reliable old Camry (170,000 mi), our first thought was an Accord since we already own and love our Honda Odyssey van. After a number of test drives (Accord, Subaru and Ford), we just couldnt get over how much we liked the Fusion. The car has been so well thought-out from the ground-up, that there is no question why it secured the MT COTY award for 2010! After 3 Hondas and 2 Toyotas, were sold on the Fusion. Hoping for years of reliable service (the true test).

I am 73 years old and this is my 13th. new vehicle. Ford got it right and Motor Trend did the same naming it Car of the Year. Best car I have ever owned by far. Just completed our first road trip from Nashville to Chattanooga TN over the treacherous I- 24 MT. Eagle. Except for the drive over the mountain I set the cruise control on 70 mph. The engine turns just at tat over 2000 rpm at 70. Overall trip mileage was 38 mpg. That is with an automatic running the AC as well.I have to laugh at the snobs who bought Toyotas.

I had a 2008 Ford fusion and love it but decided to upgrade and have not regretted yet dealer gave me a great deal and I have been loving my new car ever since and the SYNC system is one of the sickest system I seen so far.

  • Coming Up on 10K - 2010 Ford Fusion

About 50 miles south of 10K and this car has been flawless. Build quality is rock solid with excellent fit and finish. Plenty of power, quiet & comfortable cabin, extremely smooth transmission; excellent cabin space and a huge trunk. Only option I added was the Moon & Tunes package. Killer stereo which could be even better if it had actual subwoofers. Didnt like the blue or red interior accents, stuck with the black. Averaging a shade over 21 mpg in 50/50 mixed driving with the occasional aggressive launch/pass. I have no problem recommending this car to anyone in the market for a midsized sedan with a little pizazz.
