Overview & Reviews
Four new Focus models debut for 2002: the ZX5 five-door hatchback, the well-equipped ZTW wagon, the sport-tuned SVT hatchback and the Mach Audio ZTS. No matter what Focus you pick in 2002, a power moonroof can now be ordered. The high-end ZTS Sedan loses its standard ABS and crummy fake wood dash trim while gaining a rear spoiler. An in-dash six-disc CD changer is standard on ZX5, ZTS and ZTW but optional on all other Foci except the LX Sedan.
- Thoughtful ergonomics, large interior, smooth ride, sharp steering, impressive selection of body configurations and features.

A real lemon - 2002 Ford Focus
By Charles Zeller - November 10 - 11:05 pmMy experience with the Focus wagon was extremly bad very nice car but unreliable, was in the shop every other day begining on the first week of purchase. Electrical problems and front brake problems also including cooling problems which the dealer could not fix during warranty time.

Incomparable in Class - 2002 Ford Focus
By cyberfossil - November 4 - 10:00 amBesides a 911, havent driven a better handling car (magazines compare it to a Boxsters handling). The power off the line is not where its at unless you drop the clutch at high RPM (bad for your clutch, obviously). Its when you get rolling that you notice the difference. It eats up corners and is quite forgiving. Side air bags are a nice touch. The front seats are pretty good but wished I waited for the Recaros. Excellent ride.

Nice car but - 2002 Ford Focus
By John - October 14 - 8:47 amSo far in the past week of owning this car, Ive been left stranded twice. Both times were caused by a failed shifter cable end. The other complaint I have about this car, is the non-functional 6 disc cd changer, this car will be the last Ford I own and quite possibly the last domestic. In fact if I didnt owe so much on this pile, I would be trading it for a last gen Civic SIR, or a Jetta TDi.

Focus, My Experience. - 2002 Ford Focus
By Craig3500 - October 9 - 10:00 amI have 45,000 miles on the 2002 Focus SE 4 Door Sedan I have it regularly serviced and have not had a major problem to date. The Focus is not that bad of a car if you are on a budget. I would not pay over 13K for a Focus under any circumstance. It would be a great student car, either for a college or high school student. The Focus definitely has limitations, size of course is one thing, but for a compact it isnt that bad. Im a big guy (63, 250) so a Focus is a bit small for me, but I can manage. Other limitations is power. Fuel Economy is very good, I dont have the exact MPG, but its low 30s MPG.

Glad I Purchased This! - 2002 Ford Focus
By mtracy - September 21 - 12:24 pmI bought this car about a month ago and it was the best used car I found in all of Hampton Roads. I was really unsatisfied with other cars I looked at (too many miles, major defects with interior, bad reviews) and when I found this car I just knew it would be perfect for me. The compact size of the car is great because I am very short and found other cars were literally too big for me to drive.

This is the only Focus I will own. - 2002 Ford Focus
By Connie - September 2 - 8:03 pmI am so disappointed in this car. I was expecting an economy car and that is not what I got. Driving is fine in good weather, but get a little puddle and this car is thrown around. get a little snow and anthing over 35 miles an hour is a fishtailing experience. I will never own another and I dont recommend one to anyone. A set of new tires that fit this car was over 600 bucks. That was not an endearing feature.

Thoughtfully designed, fun to drive - 2002 Ford Focus
By patrick - August 28 - 10:00 amI wanted a three-door hatchback to replace my 89 CRX. The Focus ZX3 had the best collection of features for me and its lived up to my expectations. Good flexible cargo area, good fuel mileage, fun to drive, easy to drive on clogged expressways, good stereo, easy to read instruments in all lighting conditions--and cute in Sangria Red!

Better Than A Civic, For Less Money - 2002 Ford Focus
By rob217 - July 30 - 11:23 pmFor the money, you cnat beat it. Fun to drive, good on gas. I lowered my car 2" & it made a world of differance(New Springs). The rides a little stiffer than normal, but get it on twisty road & its worth every penny. Also, a K&N Filter helps a little with the power.
