This Year's Model Updates:

Arriving in 2003 for the XLT supercab styleside configuration is the Heritage Edition, which includes 17-inch wheels, a chrome cab step and various stylistic flairs such as a black bedliner, a lower valance, paint striping and a paint scheme with a raised cut-line. Also new is an STX edition for the XL- and XLT-trimmed regular and supercabs that includes an MP3 player combined with a monochromatic color scheme and clear lights, among others. Upgrades for the fancy King Ranch flavor consist of fake wood for the interior, lighted step bars and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. For the Lariat, expect a standard rear window defroster and a Pioneer CD and cassette system (the latter is also newly available on the XL and XLT). Harley-Davidson models have the option of getting a two-tone black-and-silver paint. Finally, a new LATCH system helps you tie down the kiddie seats properly.

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Poor IIHS crash test result, everybody and his brother has one.

  • Great Truck - 2003 Ford F-150

My 6 cylinder F-150 has been a real workhorse. My last couple of Ford Rangers lasted 150,000 miles before I traded them in and the F-150 seems to be on the same track. I get 22 mpg in mixed city and hiway driving with the manual 5 speed if I keep my foot off the gas. The 6 cylinder has all the power I need to haul lots of weight on those occasions when I need to haul 1,500 pounds. I had to replace a broken overload spring and upgraded to a heavier set to handle the weight. The engine didnt have a problem with a full load. The acid test was that the engine hauled all that weight over the Pennsylvania Turnpike in cruise control with very few problems.

  • NICE TRUCK - 2003 Ford F-150

I just bought this truck with a 5.4L engine although edmunds didnt give me that choice...people if you are looking for a truck your search has just stopped. One of the best..spend the extra money and get a 5.4 instead of a 4.6. Great all around truck

  • Transmission - 2003 Ford F-150

This is my 1st time buying an American vehicle and this truck has been only problems since I bought it. (new) I took it in to SVC dept. because it kept loosing power and shutting down and it turned out to be a wiring shortage after spending a whole month in the SVC dept. and changing different parts in it. Now at 51000 the transmission has gone out on it. Besides all the problems my truck ran smooth and I love the space in it but I will not buy another Ford again!

  • A little disappointed! - 2003 Ford F-150

Just bought the 2003 Supercrew 4.6 liter, and the gas economy is horrendous. The tires are horrible as they made my truck shake until I hit speeds of 60+. Have to reach up and far to even change the radio. Not made for shorter, smaller people. Shouldnt have test driven a Lariat...

  • 2003 Ford F150 flareside, my new toy! - 2003 Ford F-150

This is my second F150, and this is also my second great experience with Ford trucks. Why buy a compact truck when for the same money you get a heavy duty truck with twice the cab room and payload. It rides like sedan, and gets you to 75 mph (only the 6) with no problems. Of course, I wish the milage was the same as my Rav 4, but you cant have everything, at least not in the 03 model.

The only fault I can find in this truck is: Paint is cracking in the roof rain channel. I havent taken it back to the dealer yet, but I know they will fix it.

Been a GM Man for many years.I bought the 150 because of price being Gm was 3000 more .The V-6 Has more horsepower than the 350 I was drove for 10 years. The sport package added some nice features cheap. The transmission is by far the smoothest Ive seen.Fuel mileage is also good.It will take a few problem- free years before Ill say I love my Ford But So far so good.

I like my truck a lot, it has been a faithful steed thus far. We will see in the coming years.

  • Great Driving Experience - 2003 Ford F-150

Fun and exciting vehicle to drive. Prefer Charcoal Grey over prevoius 01 Red. Good move by Ford to up payload capacity. Have had problems with Ford Tonneau cover on 03 model. In my opinion, will always be better looking than the Dodge or Chevrolet, based on what I have seen.
