This Year's Model Updates:

Arriving in 2003 for the XLT supercab styleside configuration is the Heritage Edition, which includes 17-inch wheels, a chrome cab step and various stylistic flairs such as a black bedliner, a lower valance, paint striping and a paint scheme with a raised cut-line. Also new is an STX edition for the XL- and XLT-trimmed regular and supercabs that includes an MP3 player combined with a monochromatic color scheme and clear lights, among others. Upgrades for the fancy King Ranch flavor consist of fake wood for the interior, lighted step bars and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. For the Lariat, expect a standard rear window defroster and a Pioneer CD and cassette system (the latter is also newly available on the XL and XLT). Harley-Davidson models have the option of getting a two-tone black-and-silver paint. Finally, a new LATCH system helps you tie down the kiddie seats properly.

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Poor IIHS crash test result, everybody and his brother has one.

  • Cant beat a tough truck. - 2003 Ford F-150

This truck has given me nothing but pleasure while driving. Ive put on over 10,000 miles, and have no regrets over my purchase. The heated seats are great on a cold morning, and the 4WD can help me pull through a soggy field without getting stuck. Not to mention the 5.4L motor can really haul. This truck also cleans up nice for when its time to hang out and go downtown. Overall a great truck, at what I feel is a great price.

I really love my F-150. I have always wanted an F-150, and when I bought mine I havent been let down. Around town or on the highway, it definitely does not disappoint.

  • Reliable, quick, and looks good - 2003 Ford F-150

Bought a 2003 XL Sport with with all the options that come on an XL. The 5- spd mated to the 4.2 makes a good combo. The truck is surprisingly quick and handles well for a pickup. The ride leaves somthing to be desired but isnt bad on the highway. The truck has been very reliable with no problems. Ford has stuck by their warranty and my dealership was great.

Vehicle can get you in trouble due to easy to exceed speed limits that this blows right past. Get lots of looks and comments from strangers when they see it. Mileage around 13-14 m.p.h. mostly highways (city highways - rush hour can impact negatively). Have seen mileage as low as 10 m.p.h. - improved my driving after that.

This truck is by far the fun pedal of the new car market. After the new wears off, smoking burnout for the youngsters, (Im 54)its still a lot of grins, if you want for an everday driver FORGET it. Its like having a Street Rod without the work.

  • Great Truck - 2003 Ford F-150

Had a Chevy silverado and recently drove a Dodge 2002 ram for two days. The Ford supercrew with 5.4 in the best overall - mileage with power, room, ride, and comfort. Very pleased - 11,000 miles and no problems. Maybe get a Lariat next time.

I bought this truck mainly to commute to work, with the occasional bed hauling duty in mind. I was surprised to see that the truck would actually get 20 mpg if I watched the right foot. It is the 4.2 liter six so it does not have the oomph of the V8s Ford offers but for my use the 6 is more than adequate. The tranny shifts smoothly and operates seamlessly. I recently drove from Houston, TX to Salem, OR in 3 days and was surprised at the trucks willingness to provide comfort and considerable control over all road surfaces as very little of the trip was taken on the interstate. I am pleased with this truck and would gladly buy it all over again.

I,ve taken this truck on several vacations out west.,the gas mileage was pretty good. Driving in snow and ice this winter was great with the limited slip rear-end, who needs 4wd.
