This Year's Model Updates:

A new King Ranch SuperCab arrives for 2002, joining the SuperCrew version near the top of the F-150 food chain. All King Ranch trucks get lighted visor mirrors with a HomeLink universal transmitter and a Travel Note recording device, while KR SuperCrews have automatic climate control and an available second-row bench seat that replaces the standard rear captain's chairs. Get the Harley-Davidson edition for a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton V-8 engine that adds 80 horsepower and new styling cues in the form of flame pin striping and chrome accessories, a new upper chrome billet grille, clear-lens headlamps and clear-lens parking lamps embossed with the label and rivets surrounding the center cap of the 20-inch wheels. The lower-line F-150 XL gets standard air conditioning, and its 4.2-liter V6 receives a ULEV rating. An FX4 off-road equipment package can be added to XLT or Lariat 4WD models and includes upgrades like Rancho shocks, skid plates, special wheels and unique trim. Carryover improvements from late 2001 include seat-mounted seatbelts on SuperCabs, child seat-tether anchors and rear head restraints on SuperCrew models. Also added late in 2001 were optional heated front seats (XLT and Lariat), a power sunroof (XLT and Lariat SuperCab and Crew) and a rear-seat entertainment system (XLT and Lariat SuperCrew).

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Everybody and his brother has one.

Excellent truck for the money, and current rebates and cash incentives make it even more attractive. For those in the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana area - there is an additional discount on the TX-OK-LA package.

  • King Ranch Rules - 2002 Ford F-150

After driving a Lightning the last two years I wanted a vehicle that could hold 4 large adults with ease. The Super Crew version of the F150 does that, and the King Ranch with its 4 leather bucket seats does that in style. Power (5.4L) and handling is not what the Lightning is but what truck is?

  • excellent, but needs an updated interior - 2002 Ford F-150

Fords Lightning performs better than any truck should and doesnt make you feel guilty about it. Its a blast to drive and equally fun to just admire its beautiful shape. Its hole in the armour lies in its outdated interior, which hasnt been updated in several years. Ford needs to consider making the dash more friendly while maintaining the intuitive functionality. Basically, the interior works, but isnt fun or very attractive at all (perhaps the gauges are attractive...), which just doesnt jive with the rest of the truck.

great truck. I can haul 5 people plus all our stuff and dogs in the back. I purchased a cap which really helps with storage. I have over 47,000 miles and it still runs great. Great ride. First brake job was very expensive. Over 500.00. It seems as though parts are very expensive. Power moonroof was a great option.Go with the 17" wheels, tires.Price shop. I saved over 4,000 dollars by shopping at 7 different dealers until I got the best price.

  • Good truck, starting to rattle badly - 2002 Ford F-150

This truck has been a workhorse for me on the highway. Some years I will put 35K on the truck. It handles well, holds the road great and takes strong winds in stride. This truck is very easy on tires, I got 70K on the factory set and will approach that with the second set.

  • Awesome Truck - 2002 Ford F-150

I love this truck. Never left me on the side of the road. Everything still original, except for tires. Still has original battery and shocks even. Had a 100,000 mile tune up done recently, which cost a bit (included engine flush, transmission flush and coolant flush), but nothing needed replacement. I expected something to be worn or borderline, but it got a clean bill of health. I plan on passing it along to my daughter for her first vehicle and getting another newer model.

Bought the truck from Palmetto in Miami, with 20,000 miles on it, untitled, salesmans demo. We are very rough on interiors. (Kids, dogs, motorcycle dirt)and after 120,000 miles it is still in very good condition, no rips. The paint is still almost perfect and very shiny. The seats are very comfy for grown-ups and kids...full back seat. Back seats fold down, some storage behind seats. Good ride. One of the best vehicles we have ever owned.

Had the opportunity to drive the truck for 10 miles before I was sold on the performance. The handeling for a truck was more then I expected after previous ownership of a 99 F150. The comfort, looks tell a lot about the connection of Ford & Harley Davidson. The super- charged engine is more then you need for a trip to the grocery store. Im happy with it. The gas mileage depends on the driver. You can make the gas mileage run with the speedometer or you can take it easy but with those horses, its a fun truck.

had truck for 3 months. was in shop almost every 3 weeks. For a new truck, this is unacceptable by any measure. Ford says does live up to all of the accronyms. turned truck back in and bought a toyota. Toyota builds a FAR superior Truck in quality. Id pay more for the quality and sacrafice the options any day
