This Year's Model Updates:

A new King Ranch SuperCab arrives for 2002, joining the SuperCrew version near the top of the F-150 food chain. All King Ranch trucks get lighted visor mirrors with a HomeLink universal transmitter and a Travel Note recording device, while KR SuperCrews have automatic climate control and an available second-row bench seat that replaces the standard rear captain's chairs. Get the Harley-Davidson edition for a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton V-8 engine that adds 80 horsepower and new styling cues in the form of flame pin striping and chrome accessories, a new upper chrome billet grille, clear-lens headlamps and clear-lens parking lamps embossed with the label and rivets surrounding the center cap of the 20-inch wheels. The lower-line F-150 XL gets standard air conditioning, and its 4.2-liter V6 receives a ULEV rating. An FX4 off-road equipment package can be added to XLT or Lariat 4WD models and includes upgrades like Rancho shocks, skid plates, special wheels and unique trim. Carryover improvements from late 2001 include seat-mounted seatbelts on SuperCabs, child seat-tether anchors and rear head restraints on SuperCrew models. Also added late in 2001 were optional heated front seats (XLT and Lariat), a power sunroof (XLT and Lariat SuperCab and Crew) and a rear-seat entertainment system (XLT and Lariat SuperCrew).

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Everybody and his brother has one.

  • Everyone should drive a Ford truck! - 2002 Ford F-150

Comfortable to drive on a long road trip, good looking, great on gas, and great audio system, this is the best combination in a family friendly truck. We can take our dogs & kids on a long distance highway trip and ride in comfort. Not to mention the wonderful extras, we can never get lost because our truck always tells us what direction were going & the smooth ride lets the kids and dogs take their naps. When its time to do the weekend chores, the spacious bed gives us plenty of room to make a worthwhile trip to our local landfill! We love it & wouldnt trade it for anything ... except another FORD!

Let me start by telling you of my LOVE for FORDS, I currently own a 1992 Special Edition Red 5.0LX Convertible, and a 1957 Ford Fairlane Clup Victoria Coupe with a brand new crate 428CJ engine, my past Mustangs have included; 1969 Mach 1, 1969 428SCJ Mach 1, and a 1968 390GT Coupe! So I have a DEEP LOVE of big block FE engines! Ok, on with the LIGHTNING REVIEW.....all I can say is I would CRUSH all the other fords if it would get me one more day in the SVT LIGHTNING!!! MAKE NO MISTAKE, this is NOT a TRUCK, this vehicle would make many many other sports, and or muscle cars put their tails between their tail pipes and run for cover!!!

  • Outstanding American Truck!!! - 2002 Ford F-150

This is the first pickup I have purchased. It rides extremely well for a large, four wheel drive vehicle! The interior is extremely durable, comfortable, and very appealing. Its a SuperCab ... but the rear front opening doors allow plenty of access to the roomy rear seats. The power moonroof, 6-CD changer, automatic climate control, opening rear windows, power adjustable pedals, and easy-to- open tailgate all make this truck an extreme joy to own & operate! Definetly recommend the F-150 King Ranch to anyone looking for luxury & utility in the same truck!!!

  • Wonderful Truck!!! - 2002 Ford F-150

Powerful 5.4L V-8 pulls our 7,500 pound fifth-wheel with ease (in both 2WD & 4WD). Beautiful King Ranch leather is soft yet durable. It is a wonderful combination of form and function! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, great looking truck! Outstanding value for $35,000.

  • Exceeding my expectations - 2002 Ford F-150

Ive had my 2WD XLT Supercrew 4.6L for three months and love it. I prefer the exterior 03 design vs. the new 04 look and with the 5yr/0.0% payment option I got a great deal on a truck that is built on a proven manufacturing platform. I suggest the captains chairs with its "grand canyon" center console, the 6 disc CD that loads easily and the bigger tires P255/70R (the standard size tire on the 2WD is to small for the wheel wells). I was impressed with the amount of options that come standard with the truck.

I had X plan and bought the truck because I saved $2500. The 5.4 triton is bad on gas mileage 12 to 15 mpg. When I put a 21 foot camper on it struggles on hills some. And gets very bad mileage about 10 mpg. Will buy a GMC or a Dodge next time. They pull better. My 1994 GMC 1500 pulled my camper better than this Ford and got better mileage.

Truck currently runs 13.05@112mph with only a larger crank pulley, Cold air intake, and a Diablo Revolution chip. Better tires will get 12s. Do not believe mid to low 12s with these options. Its only talk. The truck now Dynos at 460hp, and looks great with a dual ram air hood from Cervinis.com

  • Extreme Lightning - 2002 Ford F-150

This truck is a riot to own! The looks you get from people are worth the cost alone. But the real joy is when you open it up and scare the unsuspecting victims! Definitely get one if you have the means!!

  • Ford 4x4 F-150 Extended Cab - 2002 Ford F-150

This truck gets 13-15 mpg empty. If you put a 21 foot camper behind it, it loses gas mileage and power. It struggles with a heavy load. but the quality is great! Need more power and much better mpg. The remote key should be able to unlock the doors when the truck is running.
