This Year's Model Updates:

A new King Ranch SuperCab arrives for 2002, joining the SuperCrew version near the top of the F-150 food chain. All King Ranch trucks get lighted visor mirrors with a HomeLink universal transmitter and a Travel Note recording device, while KR SuperCrews have automatic climate control and an available second-row bench seat that replaces the standard rear captain's chairs. Get the Harley-Davidson edition for a supercharged 5.4-liter Triton V-8 engine that adds 80 horsepower and new styling cues in the form of flame pin striping and chrome accessories, a new upper chrome billet grille, clear-lens headlamps and clear-lens parking lamps embossed with the label and rivets surrounding the center cap of the 20-inch wheels. The lower-line F-150 XL gets standard air conditioning, and its 4.2-liter V6 receives a ULEV rating. An FX4 off-road equipment package can be added to XLT or Lariat 4WD models and includes upgrades like Rancho shocks, skid plates, special wheels and unique trim. Carryover improvements from late 2001 include seat-mounted seatbelts on SuperCabs, child seat-tether anchors and rear head restraints on SuperCrew models. Also added late in 2001 were optional heated front seats (XLT and Lariat), a power sunroof (XLT and Lariat SuperCab and Crew) and a rear-seat entertainment system (XLT and Lariat SuperCrew).

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Everybody and his brother has one.

I recently just bought a 2002 Ford F1 50 super crew with the four-wheel-drive package I have had to Chevys before I got this ford am really miss my Chevys right now this ford as one of the worst vehicles I have ever had its a great-looking truck and it is very comfortable to drive it but it breaks down a least once a week its got a good bit of power in the pools very good but it is very Hard to work on tight squeezes everywhere you work this would definitely be the last Ford I ever bye List of things I have had break on me in the past two months the truck has 240,000 miles on it and I have had driveshafts snap on me Ive had Motor mounts break on me Ive had the rear differential started leaking all of a sudden I have had so many problems with the exhaust manifolds leaking Ive had to replace the valve covers Ive had to replace spark plugs in the coral packs and then I drove the truck today and for some reason the thing is shaking really bad Im not really sure why its doing it I think the four-wheel-drive might be fixing to lock up but dont know other than that I really recommend getting a Chevy or a Toyota I would stay for away from ford And whats crazy is when I bought this ford I bought it six hours away from where I live but I drove it for six hours straight pool one of my Chevys back on a car trailer and I didnt have any problems out of the Ford the minute I get home Ive had breakdowns ever cents

Bought when I turned 16 in 2008 with 67,000 miles on it, 3 years later have 122,000 with all scheduled maintenance. Front suspension is nearly gone, replaced slave cylinder at 71K, shorted plug wires on valve covers at 73K, replaced rear bumper mounts at 75K, cracked the lower manifold at 94K, 95K lost the throwout bearing, 104K had ECU problems, syncros in the tranny are going...poor engineering. Truck does not have any power for passing and barely gets 15 mpg on the highway. Engine is low on torque and unreliable. Dont think Ill ever buy another Ford after this one. Only used to get to and from high school and college and work.

had truck for 3 months. was in shop almost every 3 weeks. For a new truck, this is unacceptable by any measure. Ford says does live up to all of the accronyms. turned truck back in and bought a toyota. Toyota builds a FAR superior Truck in quality. Id pay more for the quality and sacrafice the options any day

  • Worst Truck I ever owned - 2002 Ford F-150

This has been a very bad purchase since day one. These trucks have a lot of major issues, including coil packs going out left and right every 20 to 35,000 miles, front wheel bearings going out every 25,000 miles, rear differential going out twice in 104,000 miles. This truck is not a heavy tower or abused off road, just very poor craftsmanship.

  • VERY Disappointed - 2002 Ford F-150

I only wish i could write a rave review like most of the other folks. I have always been told Ford makes the best trucks. This is my first Ford truck. Granted, its a 2002 and I bought it in 2012, but its been a money pit. I was unaware of the "blowing plugs" issue with certain years. Well, i have that year, I guess, and twice plugs have popped. according to complaints, Ford refuses to acknowledge and fix the problem. Now, I have to spend $250. and get new plugs every 30,000. miles. This truck has hurt me, financially. The plugs, heater core, motor for power windows, the shifter has a lot of play and is difficult to get in gear sometimes. I was told i could no longer be tightened and needed a new mechanism in the steering column, $500. The motor for the 4x4 just went, 1/2 of the interior dash lights have burnt out, and the heater blower motor is really noisy and ready to be replaced. add this to the regular stuff, and im tapped. many things i expect, but worrying about spark plugs malfunctioning, and getting hit with not-so-common problems is put a sour taste in my mouth about Fords. Not sure id buy another Ford truck

I own the 4X4 Regular Cab SWB 4.6L V- 8, do not buy this truck unless you want to ride in the most uncomfortable, punishing seats ever installed in a vehicle. Overall build quality looks like it was made by high- school shop class students. Huge waste of money, buy anything but a Ford. Customer Care Center is a joke, they treat you like trash.
