This Year's Model Updates:

Entry-level Sport model gets bigger wheels (16s versus last year's 15s) and all Durangos now have four-wheel disc brakes. Inside, you'll find a six-disc CD changer as a new option. A redesign is due for 2004.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, smooth-shifting transmission, excellent ride quality, rugged good looks.
Cons:
  • Dismal gas mileage, dated design.

Went shopping for a new vehicle and after test driving trucks and SUVs from just about every manufacturer the Durango won hands down. Lots of power, looks great and good price after the $4500 rebate.

The overall power and handling has won me over. I would suggest this vehicle to anyone looking for a mid size SUV with great power.

This is my second Durango. I had a 98 and traded up to a 2003. I thought long and hard about this vehicle, and I just couldnt part with the truck. Great fun to drive, great looking, comfortable, and very little to dislike. Heads and shoulders above the competition.

This is THE SUV folks. Sure, some people will swear by the newer design of the Ford Explorer, but lets face it - at the end of the day the Dodge Durango is an SUV - a truck with style and functionality. The Explorer has just turned one step closer to being a car lifted up a bit to look like a truck. Not that the Explorer is bad but its sort of dainty compared to the Durango. The Durango handles great off-road and in 4 wd for snow and mud. Its interior is clean and crisp and it has a solid feel all about. The leather seats are comfortable. Its just a solid sporty rig!

I enjoy my Dodge Durango 4.7 auto 4x4 air and all the xtras! I have figured out how to get over 20 plus on fuel mileage. This has me sold on further Dodge investments

  • Great SUV - 2003 Dodge Durango

I got just what I wanted. It is a bit more like a truck than say the Montero But it is powerful, roomy, Comfortable, Nice looking, etc.. I had a 96 4.0 Jeep cherokee sport 2dr and this is a big truck compared to my old jeep. Liked the new Jeep Limited but scared of the transmission problems and now that I compare this truck with the limited I love my final choice. Much bigger and better looking.

  • Even better than the last one - 2003 Dodge Durango

I had a 2000 Durango with 73000 miles and thought this would be a good time to trade it for a new vehicle because of all the insentives and low interest rates. I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee and was disappointed with it. The lack of room and power were the main dissapointments. I went back to my Dodge dealer and drove the 2003 Durango and fell in love with it. Dont get me wrong, I loved my 2000 Durango but the 2003 have been refined to perfection. The ride is so much smoother and the handling is much better. The comfort level is amazing, I feel like Im driving a Lexus from the inside. I plan on keeping this baby for a long time.

I have a SXT model with the small 4.7 v8 and was getting around 18-19mpg hwy, till I installed a magnaflow powerpack muffler and a cold air intake. Now Im getting around 380-400 miles to a tank full of 24 gals. Thats strictly highway though. But when you kick down into passing gear you can feel a huge difference in power and almost watch the fuel needle go down. 0-60/6.1sec--1/4mile/15.42. 3.55axle 265/70x16 tires. Cant wait to see what happens when I put headers on and tune it. Love that 4.7!

  • What an SUV should be! - 2003 Dodge Durango

Powerful, fun to drive really roomy and has everything you should expect from an SUV. Wish gas mileage was better but you have to pay the price for power.
