This Year's Model Updates:

Entry-level Sport model gets bigger wheels (16s versus last year's 15s) and all Durangos now have four-wheel disc brakes. Inside, you'll find a six-disc CD changer as a new option. A redesign is due for 2004.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, smooth-shifting transmission, excellent ride quality, rugged good looks.
Cons:
  • Dismal gas mileage, dated design.

OUR 2003 DURANGO SLT HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT FAMILY VEHICLE. IT SEATS UP TO 7 ADULTS,WITH PLENTY OF LEG, HEAD AND SHOULDER ROOM.IT HAS PLENTY OF CARGO ROOM FOR GETTING ITEMS IN AND OUT EASILY.EVEN THOUGH ITS A TRUCK IT RIDES VERY SMOOTH. ONLY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE GAS MILEAGE, ABOUT 13 CITY, 17 HIGHWAY.

It looks cool on the inside, Powerful enough to pull just about anything, and all the seat controls the driver has are on the passenger side as well

Bought this vehicle 12/7/02 has not been back to the shop for any reason. We have towed a 2800lb boat through the Ozarks on two seperate occassions and hardly noticed the boat was behind us. Just for information when you go through the Ozarks the roads are mostly winding two lane highways. We have towed with this vehicle about 1,000mi. and does a great job. Our vehicle has the 4.7 which is decent on mpg and lots of power. My wife loves her Durango. Dodge did a GREAT JOB on this vehicle

I Love this truck ,we got a great deal from the dealer ,who was fantastic. I did shop around .We looked at Explorers , those new Chevys and a toyota. We test drove them all, they came with 6 cyl. engines and they were a little more expensive then the Dodge. They just did not have the get up and go and bland styling save the chevy which has a unique if not ugly look. The Durango has the best Base power, excellent room and great styling.

I love this vehicle and honestly cannot think of another one that I would want more. I enjoy every aspect of it. The drive is smooth I have room for all my kids and my 2 big dogs it looks great because even when its dirty, from a distance it still looks claen and beautiful cd/tape player is great. The mpg could definitely be improved... I only get about 300 miles to a tank which is what I got in my Civic and it had a considerably smaller tank.

  • 2003 Dodge Durango--First 1000 miles - 2003 Dodge Durango

This Durango XST is my first SUV and followed driving a Toyota Avalon for the last three years. So far, Im delighted with the car. It handles well, is quiet, and fun to drive. On our first distance trip, I drove for about 200 miles without stopping or getting out of the car my ability to ambulate upon getting out was better than Ive had with other vehicles. The transmission has performed very smoothly shifting down and up with scarcely noticeable change except on the tachometer. The instrument panel seems well laid out and is easy to understand. Exterior styling with the wheel well shields and running board are very pleasing.
