Overview & Reviews
After just one year in production, the Sebring Convertible receives several changes. The most significant are a quieter intake manifold for the 2.4-liter engine and the availability of Chrysler's AutoStick transmission. Other changes include the addition of new colors, auto-dimming mirror, trip computer, enhanced vehicle theft system and damage-resistant power antenna to the options list.
- There is quite a bit of luxury in this sporty coupe or convertible. A short options list makes the decision easy.
- It would be nice to find the 5-speed manual transmisison with the V-6 engine.

Reliability Par Excellence - 1997 Chrysler Sebring
By D. B. - April 24 - 2:00 amThis car has never been in the shop for repairs other than routine maintenance, brakes, oil changes, etc. It has a new battery but nothing else has been needed except brakes. The transmission is a typical Chrysler trans- mushy and slow. The engine can be over-reved while the car is running!!!!! This is due to the mushy response of the trans.

175,000 miles and counting - 1997 Chrysler Sebring
By Scott1963 - April 9 - 2:00 amYes I drive for a living. I change the oil every three weeks, tranny fluid once a year. other than that no real problems. At this point I dont think the car owes me anything. I am in pure bonus miles. And it is a joy to drive!

Fun to Drive - 1997 Chrysler Sebring
By xray - March 26 - 2:00 amI love the car. It has all the design elements lacking in most convertibles. I have had an unusual amount of service problems, leaky top, electronic compass, oxygen sensor, etc., but somehow it doesnt take away from the pleasure of driving it.

Beautiful but TOTALLY UNRELIABLE - 1997 Chrysler Sebring
By Bart Fox - March 24 - 2:00 amMy title says it all... this car gives you a lot for a little price... but you pay for it with constant mechanical and electrical problems. Bad breaks, too. I will never buy Chrysler again.

A fun car to drive - 1997 Chrysler Sebring
By redalert - March 16 - 1:15 amThis car has proved 5 years of reliable service and has only had minor problems including repair of the CD player. Other problems have been minor. The car handles and rides well and is a good vehicle priced reasonably for a convertible in this size class.

no complaints - 1997 Chrysler Sebring
By mray - February 2 - 11:55 pmI bought my car with 17,000 miles on it and have put 50,000 more on over the past four years. After an initial problem with the air conditioning pump, the balance of the miles have required only routine maintenance, brakes and a new set of tires. Highway mileage of around 30 mpg with the six cylinder engine, about 24 in mixed driving. Not a performance car, but it is a capable cruiser.
