This Year's Model Updates:

After just one year in production, the Sebring Convertible receives several changes. The most significant are a quieter intake manifold for the 2.4-liter engine and the availability of Chrysler's AutoStick transmission. Other changes include the addition of new colors, auto-dimming mirror, trip computer, enhanced vehicle theft system and damage-resistant power antenna to the options list.

Pros:
  • There is quite a bit of luxury in this sporty coupe or convertible. A short options list makes the decision easy.
Cons:
  • It would be nice to find the 5-speed manual transmisison with the V-6 engine.

  • Looks can be decieving. - 1997 Chrysler Sebring

I bought this car January of 2013 and have had it over a year and it has been a money pit. Ive had to replace the brake lines, tie rods and various other items. The radio stopped working and the emergency brake broke. It is also rusted out under the body and Im told its only a matter of time until it comes to a point it cant be driven. However Ill admit it is an old car and the previous owner(s) didnt take care of it well. It looks and feels decent but the ride is noisy and it is a painfully slow car. If you are considering buying this vehicle be sure to examine it closely and consider another vehicle first.

Positively the worst car Ive ever owned. Bought this piece of crap for $1,500 with 105,000 miles on it and over the course of 10 months was able to drive it only 2,000 miles. Spent over $5,000 in repairs and finally couldnt take it any more. Replaced: Brakes, calipers, seat belt module, timing belt (after it broke and destroyed the cylinder head valves) cam position sensor, crank position sensor, distributor, oil pressure sending unit, transmission module, shift soenoid, ball joints, sway bar links, just to name a few things. Mechanics hate this car, its a nightmare to work on. I wish I had listened to the guy who said his mechanic used to run and lock the door, he wasnt kidding.

Among the numerous problems I have had with my well-cared-for Sebring convertible are (1) a top that literally started coming apart at the seams after 3 years, (2) an AC system which shot craps, (3) a rear window defroster that stopped working despite 3 replacements under warranty, (4) a rear window switch rarely used, and (5) Interior and exterior plastic trim which has become faded and dull. Incidentally, I have confirmed with convertible top replacement dealers that Chrysler has has MANY problems with these tops. Forget support from the dealer or their service organization.
