This Year's Model Updates:

There are only minor upgrades in store for the 2003 Impala. New options include a side airbag for the driver and XM Satellite Radio. Remote keyless entry is now standard and four new exterior colors are available. Both base and LS models get new wheel designs.

Pros:
  • Six-passenger seating availability, good crash test scores, torquey V6 engines.
Cons:
  • Vague steering, soggy suspension, low-buck interior.

Test drove several luxury cars and then the Impala. Fell in love with it immediately. The car has power to get up the road when needed, even just for showing off. I love how sporty it looks with the spoiler on the trunk. The leather interior is the only way to go. It was comfortable to drive on a long trip. The controls for the AC/Heat/Defrost are simple and easy to understand, not the new computerized type. The "official" color is Capucino Frost Metallic. It is definitely not white. If I ever decide to sell or trade this in or even buy another vehicle, I will get the Impala SS in Red, with tan leather interior. The price is excellent for all that you get.

  • Best car yet! - 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Our 6-passenger 2003 Impala with the standard 3.4L engine gives up no noticeable accelleration power whether Im alone in the car or when my family of 5 went on vacation with the trunk fully loaded. Very quick. We had no problems on the Pittsbugh winter roads last year. The 4-wheel disk brakes are very responsive, and steering is crisp. After 11 months of owning the car, we havent had one problem with it. This was our 3rd new car (full size) purchase since 2000 and by far the best. My wife is a short 51" and has no visibilty problems driving (as evidenced by no "parking lot bruises"!)

Since this is the first new car Ive purchased in a while, I spent a lot of time researching certain makes/models. I chose the Impala because of its sleek style, its comfort, and its size. Its like driving a large car, but it isnt too large. It is like driving a dream - easy to handle, hugs the road, feels substantial with a very "fluid" feeling (not tight), and gets absolutely great gas mileage. I typically get 30-32mpg on the highway and 26-29 in town. When the salesman told me it would do 32mpg, I really didnt believe him at the time. Well, believe me, it will get 32mpg on the highway. And....the price was right.

The Impala has been a very trouble free car. I recieve favorable comments from strangers in regard to the looks and color. They also wish they owned an Impala. I also own another black 02 Impala for my wife. She very much likes to drive it in town and highway.

Traded a 94 Deville in for this and lost only a little interior room (seats 5 instead of 6), gained LOTS at the pump (87 octane vs. 91 and 28 mpg vs. 22 @75mph), trunk size about the same, except the Chevys back seats fold down! This is my first Chev. (except for a 69 vette back in my wilder days) and the form, fit, and function is A1. Rides and drives great although it does tend to get a bit cramped on extended (6+ hours) trips for my 63" 250# build. (Its my wifes car though, Ill stick to the F350)All in all a great car with a very decent sound sytem from GM. Buy American!

Id rented these for years at National Car Rental. I finally broke down and bought a new car. I checked out the Dodge 300m, Infiniti G35. Nothing packed the punch, size and features as the impala for the money.

The Impala is a great car that is fun to drive. I have the sport model which adds a few features to the car that makes it ( in my opinion) complete.
