This Year's Model Updates:

Chevrolet fiddles with the trim levels -- last year's base model is now the LS, while last year's LS model is now the LT.

Pros:
  • Low price, nimble handling, ample headroom, logical control layout, available MP3 player, loads of cargo room in hatchback models.
Cons:
  • Not much power, imprecise manual shifter, side airbags not available.

Pleasant and easy driving characterize the Aveo. Handling is agile and predicable with quick braking. Turning circles are short. The car is solid, well-built and heavy for its size. Its very economical on gas. It glues to the road well with proper tires. (Factory Kuhmos were replaced immediately after purchase.) The short nose, tall driving position, and superior forward view magnify the cars agility assets, making it easy to drive. The 1.6 L4 provides plenty of pep (4-sp auto). This car rides well, and handles well in snow. The cabin is spacious. I am 58", and my girl is 510" with very long legs. Limits: seats four only, trunk lid arms dip into trunk, lower than normal ground clearance.

  • A Great Little Car!! - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

This car has to be one of the best bargains available today. All of the negative comments I read in reviews I have not found to be true on my car. This car is the best riding, most comfortable, quietest small car I have ever driven. It handles great both on rural roads and super highways. I have read about problems with standard tranny but mine shifts great in every gear all the time. Passenger room is great, even in rear seat. Cargo room is great with rear seat folded. Engine is great. Very smooth and requires less shifting than any 4 cyl I have ever driven. So far I have averaged 34 MPG! This is not a luxury car or a muscle car or a sports car, but after 5 mos and 7000 mi Im very satisfied

  • I love my Metro all grown up!! - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

I fell in love with this car and I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it. It reminds me so much of my little blue Metro that I bought in 1994. Those engines in those cars did stink when they got old but they were so much fun to drive. Great on gas too. I have a few beefs though about the Aveo. I dont think the blue was sharp enough. I hated the pastel blue and the other blue just did not pop. So I got the red which does pop. The other thing is I got an automatic and I find it does not shift right a lot of times. It is stuck in a lower gear and you have to pump the gas a little to get the gears to move so the ride is smooth again.

  • Amazingly Fun - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

Im overly pleased with this car. Dont be fooled by the small exterior size. Its very roomy on the inside. Easy to handle, very fun to drive. The fuel economy is incredible. Ive driven it around town for a month and the gas tank is still half full. Filling it up is usually $10-$15, even at todays high prices. The engine is powerful considering the lightness of the car, but even with heavy loads it has power. It feels like Im driving a 4-Door sportscar. The only downside I can find is that there is no true air conditioning, but it does blow cold air.

My parents bought an 05 Chevy Aveo LT (the hatchback version) for me as my first car. Im an 18 year old college student and this car is perfect for me. It gets me to school, to see my friends, and do whatever else I need. Ive driven in it for over 4 hours with my dad on vacation, and am going to take it to Lake Tahoe (a 6-7 hr drive from LA) in a few weeks for winter break. Its an overall reliable vehicle, roomy enough to fit 5 people (4 without a problem), and to top it off is super cute. I get compliments on it all the time, and all my friends + family love to drive in it with me. I love this car!

  • My 2005 Aveo - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

This car has been great! I drove an 03 Impala, which I miss, but the gas mileage is worth the down-grade. Since I bought my Aveo during the GM employee pricing, I got the LT version with all the toys for around $12,600, including a sun roof. Ive been approached by several co-workers, and friends asking me about it. Its a fun car!

This is a perky little car. It handles beautifully, the climate control is great, the CD player and speakers are wonderful. It is very roomy, and everything I need is within reach. There is nothing about it that I dont like.

A lot of people laughed at me when I announced I was buying an Aveo. However, every single one of them instantly changed their minds the moment they sat down in this little car. It is amazingly roomy and provides a nice comfortable ride. Okay, so its not a Cadillac, but its not really meant to be either. Im 62" and have plenty of head room in this little baby. Living in San Francisco where parking is a nightmare I appreciate owning a small good looking car that has the power to get up large hills, and can park just about anywhere. Id recomend this car to just about anyone who needs basic point A to point B transportation.

  • Perfect for the Price - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

This is a perfect little car if youre looking for something affordable, not too flashy, but still reliable. I have the manual transmission and although it was listed at 28 mpg in the city, I get 31 consistently and nearly 40 mpg on the highway. If its lacking anything, its top speed, but the speed limit is 75 anyway, right? If you dont feel like spending $17,000 just so you can say you drive a Civic, buy yourself an Aveo. Its every bit as fun to drive, versatile, roomy, and a lot cheaper.

  • My Aveo called Zippy - 2005 Chevrolet Aveo

We have show dogs and just love this zippy little car. We just put 2 fold down crates and 2 soft crates and 4 days of suplys to show the 2 dogs for 4 days after we drove 8 hours one way. We saved so much in gas that we got to step out for a real nice dinner. We will be useing this new car for a wile to head to dog shows. Oh, and the dogs we show are Afghan Hounds they are about 50 lbs. each and about 26 inches tall. The back seats come out to make lots of room.
