This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • Re-connected to the Road - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Driving this car is pure pleasure. The interior ergonomics are excellent, and very intuitive. The steering, braking and suspension are superb, putting me in very close contact with the road surface. I can feel this car the way a driver wants to, as an extension of my will.

  • Great Ride, once you replace the tires - 2006 BMW 3-Series

First BMW, bought after much research, to replace a faithful Nissan Maxima, which I loved. Best car Ive ever owned or driven. I had reservations from the start about the Run Flat tires. Nobody will repair them, they ride harsh and loud, tramlining is horrible, they only last 12k miles, and are very expensive to replace. Replaced with regular "go flat" tires, and its like a different car amazing what a difference regular tires makes. Now I just carry a couple cans of fix-a-flat and my triple A card. 2 problems: drivers side mirror and steering wheel lock had to be replaced.

  • Nice car but - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I truly like my 325i but there are few quirks that come to mind. Sometimes when I insert the key, theres a weird semi-grinding sort of noise behind the steering wheel and I have to reinsert the key, lock the steering wheel (sometimes 2 or three times) to get the engine to start. Runflats were a bad decision. Besides, if you have to put a key in the dash anyway, whats the point of the push button? I have the light grey interior and 2 weeks after I bought the car, the drivers side door handle started to peel.

  • Excellent Entry in BMW - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This is an extremely excellent vehicle. The maintenance program is by far the most superior program ever. I have only paid for tires since owning this car. I am tall, 64". I am ready to upgrade to a larger model. That is my only complaint, is that it is a little tight for taller people. I knew that when I bought the car, so I cant complain. This is an excellent start for someone that wants to get into a high performance luxury vehicle.

I have had the 2006 325i for a 1 1/2 years and loved every minute of it. The only and I mean only problem that I have with the car is its cup holders. My wife had a flat tire once and she pressed the BMW assist button and was directed to the nearest dealership for repair. I have taken the car in once for maintenance! Once! I love this car and so does my wife.

  • I absolutely love it - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Absolutely great! Great ride, handling and more than adequate power. I was pleasantly surprised by the fuel economy. I-6 and 6 speed manual are velvety smooth.

Its a nice car and fun to drive. Got everything that I look for, and doesnt have anything I dont care to have. Great handling, reasonably quite. It ride solid but smoothly, just one of the best car one could have hoped for out of a small car. Excellent road feel, easy to go around. To me, the new 3 is a better looking car than the 5 and the 7 series. A head turner no doubt.

  • Great car, great value! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Have owned this car for over two years and with a Lexus before this, and a Mercedes prior to the Lexus, I am simply amazed at how great the 3 series is! The exterior design is tame, yet very mature, and as a dentist, I am pleased with taking this car to work (it has a grown-up, serious look to it). The interior is amazing - very classic, and timeless. I like simplicity, and the smooth uncluttered lines of the interior are always pleasing for me and passengers. Drives really great and its so reliable. I have 27,000 miles and have only had to service the car once! The car tells you exactly when (date and mileage) and what to service.

Love the car but had some problems with driver side mirror, driver side seat control and do not like the cupholders. They are flimsy and had to have one replaced and also do not like where they were placed. Also, there is nowhere to put sunglasses and CDs. Inside door handle on drivers side was peeling and had it replaced.

  • Best in class, doesnt say much - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Less than a year of ownership and my 2006 330i has had 3 major problems: bad brakes; HVAC stops working; comfort access works intermittently. Yes, its fun to drive - once I replaced the lousy run flat tires. The handling and feedback are best in class, but that mostly reflects on the weakness of the class. Woefully underpowered with the 255 hp 3.0. The exteriors a total nightmare. But again, in the class, theyre all ugly. Big, bloated and very heavy describe the 330is outside. The interiors cavernous and very Buick-like. All around the cars a gross departure from my dearly departed 2003 330i ZHP. Unless the class sharpens up though, I cant imagine getting anything else.
