This Year's Model Updates:

A six-speed SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) transmission is now optional on select 3 Series models, while a five-speed Steptronic automatic is now offered with the 330i Performance Package. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and hands-free wireless cell phone capability are now standard features on the sedan and wagon. There are new alloy wheel designs for the 325i, 325xi and 330xi Sport Package. All 330i sedans get a revised grille -- a new black grille instead of silver, with a lower grille combination of body color and black. All 3 Series coupes and convertibles receive a revised front fascia, plus new front and rear bumper contours, Adaptive headlamps and taillights and new designs for both the standard and optional wheels. Interior changes are limited to a revised climate control panel. Finally, Sirius Satellite Radio is now available as an accessory on all 3 Series models.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners
Cons:
  • Pricey for its market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • Love my bimmer - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I bought the car with 24,900 miles April 2014 from 80 year old woman. The car now has 57,000 mile. I like the car very much. NO major issues, just maintenance issues here and there. Unfortunately, repairs can be pricey. Overall , I would recommend this car. I am very happy with it. I do expect to keep it a longgggg time. I will keep up the maintenance and it should go and go .I do believe it is the "ultimate driving machine" and I would not go to back to a "basic" car again. I really enjoy driving it...

I really had a tough time choosing this BMW over a similar-priced G35. What finally clinched it was a two-day rental I did on a business trip. The G35 was a great car to test-drive, with killer acceleration and handling. But over the course of two days, driving about 200 miles per day, I noticed that: it had a rough ride and hates potholes the auto transmission is never sure what gear to pick and always has a lag the seats are uncomfortable (why do all Japanese cars have way too much lumbar?) and I simply could not get past how cheap the interior felt.

  • Fun to drive but has problems. - 2004 BMW 3-Series

Purchased 2004 330ci in June 2003. This is a fun car to drive, and the handling is superlative. However, with 10K miles have already replaced transmission and 6 ignition coils. What has happened to BMW reliability?

  • whatever happened to quality ? - 2004 BMW 3-Series

I purchased a new 325i and when the car had 600miles, the problems began. The instrument cluster blacked out for about 30secs while I was driving on the freeway at night and that reset everything, but the total miles driven. Quite a frightening experience not knowing what was going on with the new car while driving 65mph. Soon the service engine indicator came on and when the car came to a complete stop, it was shaking violently. I brought the car back to the dealer and the mechanic made it out to be a tiny little problem, peanuts he said. So they supposedly fixed the problem, but after a month, the service engine light is on again at 2000miles.

This is my first BMW,new 2004 325i,4dr sedan, jetblack w/tan interior,Premium package, sunroof, steptronic transmission. Beautiful Car! Wow, this is a sports car in a practical sedan. Handling is unreal which makes driving fun and ride is smooth & comfortable. Oh No ! comes from transmission having to be replaced at 1000 miles!! BMW apparently outsources the transmissions to Ford/ZF(are you kidding me, junk)and told me they are experiencing a "seal leak" where transmission doesnt engage
