This Year's Model Updates:

BMW has seen fit to give the sedans and wagons a facelift for 2002. An in-dash CD player finally makes it onto the standard features list. The center stack has been altered to accommodate the new automatic climate controls. Steptronic automanual operation has been altered so that you move the transmission lever forward for downshifts and backward for upshifts. Bi-xenon headlamps are on the options list so that both low and high beams can glow a cold blue and can be set to automatic operation. Rear side airbags are available for coupes and convertibles. Two new colors, Electric Red and Gray Green (and a Natural Brown interior leather) join the color spectrum.

Pros:
  • Luxurious, powerful, exceptional road manners, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Pricey for their market segment, limited rear-seat space and cargo capacity.

  • Amazing Car - 2002 BMW 3-Series

The 325ci is everything you could want in a sporty coupe. Its unbelievably responsive and the power is smooth and evenly spread through the RPMs. The handling is air- tight.. you will have nothing to complain about with this car at all... I havent tried it in the snow yet though but I dont think it should be too much of an issue.

I am very impressed with the sound insulation in the car. A previous 911 cab owner and swearing I would never buy another convertible because of noise, this car converted me back. A daily driver (that now sits next to a 911 coupe) has similar handling and performance characteristics, simply without the hp. I offers huge fun factor - especially with the top down, but the wind deflector is a must for comfortable ride and therefore not that rear passenger friendly.

  • BMW 3-Series is a MONEY PIT!! - 2002 BMW 3-Series

While the performance of this vehicle is phenomenal, BMWs commitment to customer service, and establishing brand loyalty is 0. Vehicle reliability is terrible as it has left my wife stranded on several occassions. This year alone Ive spent $3,000 in repairs. First the a/c, then 3 of the 4 power window motors went out at the same time, not to mention the times the vehicle has left us stranded. When I contacted the North America Corporate Offices I was simply advised to buy another BMW...no customer goodwill credit for repairs, no complimentary service, No..No..No. In conclusion, not the brand of QUALITY, customer service, and/or commitment they portray to be.

  • What You Come to Expect - 2002 BMW 3-Series

Replacing a 1994 325i convertible, I was amazed how many formerly optional features are now standard and yet once adjusted for inflation, the 2002 330Ci is actually lower priced. The extra "oomph" of the 3.3 liter in-line 6-cylinder over the 325s smaller engine is well worth the extra dollars, especially given the cars substantial weight. With the lid down, this a head- turner with BMWs well deserved reputation as being a drivers car.

  • Happy about my 330i - 2002 BMW 3-Series

I chose the European delivery option for my BMW 330i. Whether driving it on the autobahn or out to dinner at night I have been completely impressed with my car. My previous car was a 1994 BMW 325is. BMW has continued to impress me by their ability to constantly improve their cars. I loved by old car, but I like my new one even more. It is a pure sport driving pleasure when I want it, but easy and comfortable to drive at all times. Its the perfect balance.

  • Less Car for More Money - 2002 BMW 3-Series

Wish I had waited one more month. Test drove the Infiniti G35 recently and there is no comparison. More room, more zip, more horsepower, longer warranty, better service (I have heard) and 8 - 10K less. Vanity and ego kicks my ass again. No more ultimate driving machine for BMW...move over the king is dead. BTW...took a huge hit on my trade in...some value...haaaaaa!!!

  • Awesome - 2002 BMW 3-Series

What a machine. The more curves in the road the better the ride. You can be crusing at 60, punch it and still have incredible power. Best money I ever sent.

  • A damn good car, but "ultimate"? - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

BMW prides themselves as the ultimate driving machine, and while this may be true in comparison to some cars on the market, I can certainly say that ive driven plenty of cheaper and more thrilling cars on the market, my wifes 2004 Honda S2000 being one of them. Overall this car has been great outside one annoying problem, the drivers side door handle. Twice since Ive had it now it has broken to where the door could only be opened from the inside (thank god for auto down windows on the remote). Other than that little issue, this car is both a joy and pleasure to drive. Coming from a former Acura CL Type-S owner, I will say that this car performs just as well, without the tranny woes

  • Even Better Than Expected - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    By -

I bought this car knowing that it had great performance and looks. After 3 years, what I was not expecting was great reliability. This car has been in the shop for nothing other than oil changes. It looks like I just drove it off of the lot and people comment that it still smells new. This is a 3 year old car with 40k miles! I plan on keeping this car for 10+ years. It is worth the money. MPG is at 23 over the life of the car. On the negative, the backseat is small for an infant carrier, but workable and this car has the worst brake dust I have ever seen. Other than that, it is perfect.

  • best damn car built = 325i sedan - 2002 BMW 3-Series

car is fun and easy to drive and very comfortable for a 61" driver and if necessary no car has any better acceleration in its class and price.
