It is not your fathers VW - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Soon Reach - December 29 - 2:00 amI purchased a 1998 Beetle only to have BIG problems with it. By 50,000 miles I had replace 4 headlights, 6 driving lights a brake handle, 5 window switches, 5 inside door handles, 3 radios and a set of brakes and rotors. Then the trouble really started. Two radiator fans, engine fuse box, air conditioner conpresser, computer and more. So, I figured it was just the first year of production, surely they worked out the bugs! NOPE! I got a 2000 Beetle and still had the minor problems plus a new clutch at 30,000 miles.

Good value, cool snug bug, but.. - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By toms - December 1 - 9:13 amNimble handling, chic style and VWs engineering has not let us down in the 2 years weve driven it. Warning! Replacement of body panels may be extremely delayed. We had to wait two months for a new rear right panel - from Japan - to replace our dented end. It kept our New Beetle in the shop all that time.

VW Beetle cute but unreliable - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Bwittany - November 28 - 10:00 amI love the way this car looks but I have had so many problems with the car and the dealership that I cannot wait to sell it. Ever since I bought this car it has been nothing but trouble. In the end the car is cute and fun to drive but I will never buy a Volkswagen again because of the problems I have encountered.

Like ex-wife: Beautiful but unreliable! - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By The big one - October 16 - 10:00 amIt had 6 electrical failures in 3 years. That is just too much! This car was less reliable than my 9 year old Chrysler! Luckily, I leased it so I did not have to sell it.

New Beetle 2000 - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Peoria - October 9 - 10:00 amIve had no serious problems with the vehicle, very satisfied. Great: value, ride, performance, comfort & reliability. Surprising versatility with hatchback design - carried lots of stuff that looked like it wouldnt fit. Only nuisance problem has been the oxygen sensors - hopefully rectified with the recent recall & repair.

poor emissions - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By lorila - July 6 - 10:00 amI would love this car if I could keep it out of the shop-the price of repairs could have afforded me a much more expensive car! I am getting out VW this year as they have refused to help. Other people I know have much better response from their cars and their manufacturers!! I see other people have the same citrus experience!

Unhappy -- but now happy! - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By BOBM - June 30 - 6:06 amI was excited when my wife and I bought her brand new VW New Beetle turbodiesel. Ive never had a worse car in terms of mechanical failures. It had problems with the power windows, A/C, etc. I was unhappy every time it broke, including needing a new manual transmission with only 30,000 miles on it. Some of the cost was covered by warranty. I sold the car recently on eBay. Now Im happy.

Cute Car - 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle
By Cara_14 - June 25 - 10:00 ami really enjoy this car, its fun to drive and really cute. Although i did have minor problems , sensors, the a/c smells horrable, drinks a lot of gas, peeling inside the car...all cars have minor problems unless u catch a lemonthen ur screwed, but overall it drives well.
