  • Good little SUV - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    The Rav4 is a comfortable little SUV. It is not the most powerfull, but it gets great MPG (When driven nicely). Seats are nice and supportive, and the silver/metal looking plastic looks upscale, even if your not sure what it exacly is. The AWD is nice and is needed in the rockies.

  • 318,000 and still going - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    My Rav has been in 4 major accidents and has over 318,000 miles on it and it is still going stong. I wouldnt part with this car unless you gave me another one...well maybe if you gave me a Highlander.. :-}

  • Best compact SUV Ive driven - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    I have put many miles on the car, and some rugged off roading (quite a bit) Ive never been stranded on the side of the road. Horsepower is lacking but the rewards are seen at the gas pump. The five speed manual gear box helps over come the power issue. At 255,000km. I am Getting the best fuel milage yet!! Lets hope for a hybrid! The limited slip differential is a little "week" but as long as the car is still moving it will pull though almost anything.

  • Fun & Sporty - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    I own two RAV4s and I have yet to have any problems with them. The "L" series is very fun to drive and its handling is pretty good for a 4 cylinder. I have yet to get trapped in the 2+ feet of snow in the winter time. All the interior features are very easy to operate and are all in hands reach. This SUV gets two thimbs up!!

  • Is RAV4 really made by Toyota? - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    Rattle, Squeak, Rattle, Creak... That pretty much sums up my experience with my RAV4...not to mention the "Check Engine Light" syndrome... I have only owned Hondas and this was my first Toyota...and I have to admit, this is the worst car I have ever owned. Dont buy this car.

    This car will never break down. Extremely reliable. Its a fun car with nice exterior stylings. Decent capacity inside for cargo or passengers.

  • NIce little SUV for the city - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    This is a car/SUV that seems to do exactly whats intended for it. Design in and out are very sporty. I have the leather/sunroof package so it is essentially loaded with options. One option I did not get (and wouldnt) is AWD. There is simply not enough power from the engine to support the extra weight this option adds, and lets be realistic: how often is one really going to NEED AWD? I live in the Seattle area and travel to the mountains quite a bit - ground clearance is high enough to navigate pothole ridden forest service roads, and being from the midwest, I can manage driving in the snow without AWD. Gas milage for an SUV is pretty good as well - 22mpg city, and 30mpg highway.

  • Is it really an SUV? - 2001 Toyota RAV4
    By -

    This is a great car, plain and simple. Its not really an SUV, having been built on a Camry- not a truck chassis. The center of gravity is low, the car is wider and shorter than a sedan, its a cinch to park, has a great turning radius and, best of all, handles more like a sports car than a Jeep. Its a bit under-powered and gets minimally acceptable fuel mileage, but we live with it. A great vehicle all around, especially with the rear seats removed to yield a cavernous cargo area.

  • 203k miles and still going strong - 2001 Toyota RAV4

    Great Toyota Reliability. Have owned for 12 years with no major mechanical problems. It has been the most reliable vehicle Ive ever owned. At 203k miles now and think I should hit 300k. No rust on the body in a bad NorthEast climate. Not the most exciting vehicle to drive, but it is very economical with a solid 4WD system. You really cant beat Ravs for their overall value.
