This Year's Model Updates:

A navigation system is optional (and plays DVD movies when the vehicle is not in motion). Standard equipment includes an electrochromic rearview mirror with compass and JBL audio with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. Each of the power windows now features one-touch up and down control. Three new colors replace Desert Bronze on the color chart, and the alloy wheels have a new chromelike finish.

Pros:
  • Go-anywhere ability, powerful V8, versatile interior, luxurious cabin.

  • The Best - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

This is my 3rd Landcruiser. And by far the best Toyota has built for urban jungles. It is the quietest, smoothest, most comfortable if you load it with all options, it also cost the same as the Lexus once you load it. The navigation system is outstanding, better than several others I have seen on other vehicles. My average fuel is 15 to 17 hwy. Start of 3rd year, 80,000 miles plus, not 1 thing has gone wrong, service only. I dont go off road, but on road this car is very safe and reliable in any road conditions.

  • The Rolex of SUVs - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

The TLC is the standard by which all SUVs are judged. Reliability, comfort, safety and durability for the long haul are superior to any other vehicle Ive owned. The overall integrity of the TLC outweighs others in its class. We moved out of the minivan market into a large SUV to satisfy our family needs - performance & safety were tops on our list. After initial sticker shock, cost comparisons revealed the reasons behind the price tag. Driving confirms the value everytime we travel the Autobahn or Autostrada.

  • Too much bass - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

Great vehicle, so so gas mileage. has been pretty good on tire mileage and brake wear. Whats up with the bass in the stereo? Been back to Toyota 3 times only to have the regional rep tell us the amp was replaced (was it the right one...dealer wont prove it) and this is normal... cant even listen to some radio stations its so bad...sounds OK with the motor off.

One heck of a machine. Second generation user of LC. Never has it failed in the tropical jungles nor the concrete city driving.

  • great suv - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

I had a 97 expedition with 130k miles and did not feel it would go to 200k. I have only put 5k (bought with 16k) miles on the landcruiser but have little doubt it will go the miles. Buying used save a ton, close to trad in value. Wish mpg was better, just matches the expedition at 14. Car is very solid.

  • SUV of choice - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

Previously owner of Range Rover. Performance and reliabilty of the Land Cruiser is far superior. The engine is strong, body has very nice profile and rides very smooth. Bought this vehicle because of outstanding performance & reliability of a new Camry we have and the quick decline of RR.

  • The Best Suv - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

This is my 2nd LC. Ive got 98,000 miles on my 2001 and with no repairs! I even pull a horse trailer and a 1700 lb. clydesdale. This SUV is aweseome!! I plan on purchasing another one when I get to 150,000 miles. My car looks and drives like a new vehicle. In fact, many people mistake it for new. I just replaced the timing belt and brakes -- just maintenance. One of a kind!!!

Awesome drive. Not quite my FJ-60, but they are two different animals... really. Would recommend it to all my afffluent friends, and sneer to my not- so-affluent ones as I drive by.

  • My Lexus! - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser

Just love it: the way it looks, drives, handles, sounds, smells. You name it, top quality from the word go! Mine has all the bells and whistles of a Lexus LX 470 and more, but cost me a lot less!

  • Best SUV on the road ! - 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser
    By -

Ive owned 3 SUVs prior to the Land Cruiser, but this one has to be the most comfortable and refined SUV on the road. The handling and suspension are awesome, the quietness of the engine is amazing. The body style never looks outdated, always looks new. The controls are very easy to operate, offroad capabilites are far superior then any other SUV on the road, hands down. Ive always wanted a Land Cruiser but the cost was out of my range. Now that I own one I will never go back to any domestic SUV. Yes it is a bit more expensive than other SUVs, and premium fuel is required, but believe me its worth every penny.
