Overview & Reviews
Saab adds a 9-5 Anniversary Special Edition to its lineup, though that model won't debut until midyear. Also, last year's Sport Package has been replaced by the Aero Package.
- Long list of standard features, exceptionally supportive front seats, plenty of cargo space, simple controls.
- Turbo four lacks refinement, ride can be harsh at times, torque steer under hard acceleration, excessive wind noise, some low-grade interior materials, no rear-seat airbags.

Love the Saab! - 2007 Saab 9-5
By Esconced - December 25 - 11:06 pmHavent had the car long but it sure is impressive so far. I am so tired of the heavy feeling in many vehicles and I love the way this car combines power with a light feeling. This car doesnt need a long runway. It is difficult to find a vehicle that is fun to drive around town but also is a pleasure as a touring sedan. This car appears to be good at both. I will have a better idea when I take a 1600 mile road trip in a couple of weeks.

Saab Air Gulper - 2007 Saab 9-5
By stvakr - November 29 - 5:50 pmBrisk acceleration and very fun to drive especially on the highway. Spacious midsize sedan that seats four adults comfortably with a huge trunk, sporty design and feel, and thumping sounding stereo system. When the transmission is shifted to the "sport" mode, the fun meter goes up. With the large oversized gripping Pirellis, the front end steering torque is definitely noticeable.

My fifth one, and the best one - 2007 Saab 9-5
By Tiff - September 11 - 11:13 pmThis is my fifth 9-5 and I think its the best one Ive owned. I have always loved the comfortable seats, the well-designed dash and the rather eccentric turbo engine, but the new one finally has satellite radio, a cd changer, and tons of power. Its comfortable on long drives and still has room for four or five people and their luggage. And while newer designs may offer more toys, they come at a price.

Sleeper car - 2007 Saab 9-5
By saab driver - June 9 - 8:26 pmThis car is a Q ship. It has more power than a lot of other cars in the same price range, handles like a dream, and is very reliable. Who cares if it hasnt had a major restyling in nine years? They got it right then. Very solid, quiet, great stereo, and pretty good on gas too, not to mention crashworthier than a lot of coveted Japanese cars.

It may be slow of the line, but... - 2007 Saab 9-5
By ultimate95aero - June 4 - 2:38 pmThe pull between 50-120, scary. I had to pass a guy yesterday going around 55mph and had a small time period to do it in. Shifted my automatic into Manual Mode (complete with steering wheel shifters) and put it in "M3" (3rd Gear). I passed him with ease and came up on the car in front of him in no time. Looked down at the speedometer, and I was at 95mph in what seemed like 4 seconds. Once you get the turbo spinning at 100,000 RPM (yes, thats the correct number), the car acceleration is, Ive said it before, scary. I have had only 2 problems, compared to my problem-some Buick, the ignition coils (DIY $179) are very sensitive, and the gas cap ($14.99) needs to be replaced every 50,000 miles.

Value sport - 2007 Saab 9-5
By Denver Aero - February 15 - 7:50 amGreat highway cruiser and the new suspension is very adept in corners. Compares in price to the 300 bmw series, but is larger. Ive enjoyed the sport-tuned suspension. Saab owners are used to the higher power band, so no biggie that first gear isnt much. Its a thriller to drive and own. Ive enjoyed it and its surprisingly practical. I have lots of warranty protection, but this build quality is much better than my 96 900SE. No hint of any probs yet. Realistically to get a car 4 people could fit in would cost me $45,000- 50,000 after options.

Still a Head-Turner! - 2007 Saab 9-5
By Daniel - July 5 - 8:50 amFourth Saab. Very happy with the car overall. I like the old dashboard better from 1999-2005 (Seems more classic Saab than GM). Nice ownership experience from Saab, bought me back from Subaru.

Combi is well named - 2007 Saab 9-5
By Bluewater 42 - December 1 - 7:33 pmI like this wagon. It offers a ton of space for trips to the recycling center or the boat or 2 dogs and a blast around town, back roads, and the highway. If youre in the market for a mid-size wagon, and you like european brands, youll find a huge price variance between this and and a BMW, MB or Audi wagon. My wife has a 2.5T V70, very similar but a bore to drive. She loves driving the Aero, wants to swap cars. The engine is plenty powerful and it corners flat as my buddies 2001 530 Bimmer. I would recommend this car for someone needing a combination sport sedan/SUV. Tried 9.3 Combi, too small but nice wagon too.

Best Bang for Buck - 2007 Saab 9-5
By gummibear - November 2 - 6:43 amPeople too often make the mistake of comparing the 9-5 with top luxury car makers (BMW, Audi, Lex, etc). The only problem is that such a comparison doesnt take into consideration that those cars cost at least $20-30k more when you start factoring comparable extras. In its price class the Saab 9-5 is simply the best value offering sporty power and handling, great comfort (seats + interior roominess), decent gas mileage and a unique design. Really this car is equal parts fun and functional. While the 2.3L turbo takes you 0-60mph in 6.7s, what is really impressive is how it performs in its unique power band (40-70mph). In that range you are accelerating faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera.

Fun to Drive - 2007 Saab 9-5
By Eric Burt - August 27 - 2:16 pmI decided to buy this car (a 2007 w/ 45,000 miles)- over the 2007 Honda Accord & 2007 Toyota Camry -after test driving all three. This car is the best ride of all three - by a long shot. Its the most fun Ive ever had driving a vehicle - it has great power - 260 HP w/ turbo- and a smooth, quiet ride. Better ride than my wifes Mercedes- Benz ML 340. Long live SAAB !
