Love my Grand Prix!!! - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Donnie - October 8 - 2:00 amThis is, hands down, the best car I have ever owned! I love this car! It is ellegant, classy, sporty and mean all at the same time!! It has nibble handling and still a smooth comfortable ride. It is mega powerful with tons of off the line torque. The engine is quiet and smooth. I love the way it shifts. It seems to know exactly what gear I want it in and moves there in an instant. I have test driven most cars in its class and it is NO CONTEST!! I have owned it since it was new and it now has 75,000 miles on it. Never a moments trouble mechanically, and I have driven it harder than anyone would. BUY A GRAND PRIX!! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Poor mans sports car - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Brent Andrus - September 23 - 11:06 pmThis is a reliable car when it comes to the powertrain (engine, transmission, etc.). It has pretty good horsepower, a sleek look, and the inside has lots of gadgets and gizmos. But all those ancillary electrical components are very cheaply made. My car is nicknamed "Trixie" because it is just full of "tricks". For example the windsheild wipers are stop in the upright position rather than down, the radio volume dial goes up when it is supposed to go down (and vice versa), several warning lights like "check tire pressure" are always on, and two back windows just gradually fall down and have to be pushed back up. Overall, quite reliable but you have to overlook annoying defects.

Love this car! - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Rochelle - September 6 - 3:00 pmThis car was purchased for me when I turned 16... 8 years and 100,000+ miles later I still LOVE this car. The power and handling is fantastic, very fun to drive. I havent had many issues except for electronic things... Replaced window motors, batteries. Many problems with wires and dashboard controls not working properly, but that seems to be common with Pontiac. It is roomy and comfortable.. the trunk can hold ANYTHING. I have been hit twice, and am impressed with it holding up nicely. (Doesnt look nearly as pretty now though) Now at 125000 miles I am starting to have bad problems with the electronics. Heat no longer works and it dies on me a lot. Will be very sad to replace it.

Sleeping Giant - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By The Reaper - August 24 - 5:56 pmIve owned my GP for about 6 months now and its time to write a review. What can i say about this car except WOW. I got mine for a steal at only $4600. My previous car was a 97 GA with the 2.4, needless to say, there is certainly an increase in power. I absolutley love this car, its fast, handles very well, and looks incredibly mean. freeway driving is a blast, and it only takes a moment for the speedo to jump from 70 to 100, which makes passing a breeze. I have found that working under the hood isnt that bad, much easier than the GA. there are plenty of perfomance parts available, and they are easy to find. best of all, nothing makes my day like annihilating some kid in a boy-racer. LOVE IT!!!

I love this car! - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By CJE - August 21 - 2:46 amThis is a great car to drive. I love taking it out on the highway. Even with 99K miles, it still has great pickup and incredible power. The 3.8L engine can really open up on the highway. I have to sell it now to get a car with better gas mileage. But I love it!

Best car for a college student. - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By tjcollinsku - August 14 - 7:06 pmI am a college student that lived about 200 miles from home an this car got me through with no problems. It as plenty of room to move tv, sound system, computer, and all my cloths. I love the power of the GT but wished Id went for the GTP. Ive done several long (500+ mile) trips and there is nothing more comfortable. Handles great in the snow, no problems driving through western Pennsylvanias 5 inches of lake effect snow. Only had a few problems. Alternator went out at 75,000 miles, need new brakes at 80,000 miles and I just had to replace the water pump and hoses at 95,000 mile. All in all I love this car and wouldnt trade it for anything.

Its been a good car overall - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Duke - May 17 - 10:13 pmI got this one with 62,000 miles on it and have 208,000 now. Ive put several alternators on it and two batteries. Just had the struts replaced as well. Ive enjoyed the fuel economy as it has an 18 gallon fuel tank that allows me to drive for 500 miles when on road trips with work before needing to fill up. Gas guage broke a year after I got it, so I just fill up every 350- 400 miles to be safe. I got 224,000 miles out of an 89 Grand Am, so these cars can go for a while if you take care of them. Also have an oil leak and did with the Grand Am too. Thats been my biggest complaint along with the alternators.

Decent Car - 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Jonesy - September 9 - 2:00 amI bought this car back in the summer of 00. Since then the car has a pleasure to drive. But with all good things there are some hidden flaws. There have been problems with the radiator, brakes, alternator, transmission, heater core, water pump, and some electronics. After a year or two of driving this car the expenses have grown more than what was expected. But I must say that this car has been much more fun to drive than the beaten up 91 Saab sitting next to it.
