dont make the same mistake - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By Meagan - December 22 - 10:00 amUncomfortable seats. Plus my son is only five and his knees hit my back when he sits behind driver seat. We have had lots of electronic problems too. Power window controls went out temporarily, vertical seat adjuster went out, side mirror came off when touched, has a starter problem, and digital mileage and radio numbers go crazy. Bad seal above the front windows makes riding very loud when driving 60 or higher. Car stalls out or jumps sometimes when accelerating.

The best car ever - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By Corey - December 15 - 6:53 amI bought this car with a 113k on it. The engine still purrrrs and runs perfect. The transmission does not even miss a beat. It runs beautifully. And the ride is excellent. It is difficult to explain, it rides soft and quiet enough to not get bounced around but also the ride is stiff enough to feel the road. I like this car inside and out. The 3.4l engine in the car is one of GMs best(next to the 3.8L of course) and I know the transmission in these cars are solid. I expect to easily get over 200,000 miles out of this car without spending a lot of money and/or something major going on. Thanks

Fast and Furious - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By Chip McGirt - November 28 - 10:00 amI love my Grand Am. I love the acceleration for a 4dr midsize sedan. With 170 hp underneath the hood, it has decent power to go along with a decent ride.

Worst Ever! - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By Leah - September 20 - 1:16 amThis is the worst car ever built! When we bought the car it had 40,000 miles. So far we have had to replace the gasket intake, windows twice, brakes twice, the electrical system shorts out, and now our transmission is slipping. Im buying a Ford next time!

PGT - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By Sus - September 19 - 3:10 pmI bought this car after my 97 Pontiac was totalled. I was absolutely in love with the look of this car and had always wanted it, so I was pretty excited to get it. The outside still looks sporty, but I have had some major problems with the body. First, I live in MN and while parking I hit a snowbank and the front bottom of the bumper broke off. Cheaply piece of plastic! Then I had someone hit me and coulnt open my passenger side door, finally the paneling broke off on a drive home on the interstate. Maybe I just have bad car luck. As for the maintenance I havent, luckily, had to replace anything major. It is almost at 140,000 and I just recently replaced my serpentine belt and tensioner.

Grand Am GT V6 - Going Stron - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By GMA - September 14 - 1:33 amBought from a friend in 2005 who bought it new; it had ~50000 miles when i purchased it. Now has ~130000 on it. Replaced window motor, head gasket, alternator, brakes, rotors, rim leaking, shocks, etc... Typical for this car and similar to other posts. But, car drives great and if you keep RPMs under 2000, you can expect ok gas mileage. Everything still works, so no valid reason to trade it in, although it isnt work too much now. Will keep driving until the wheels fall off. If you are considering buying, try to get it cheap and make sure you go through these reviews to determine if any of these typical problems have been fixed. Mine is red, so looks good still when it is buffed

Not what I expected from GM - 1999 Pontiac Grand AM
By RSturkie - July 9 - 10:00 amI am dissappointed in this car. I have had 3 sets of front brake pads and 2 sets of front rotors on this car and still the brakes make a noise. I just put a new altenator on it a month ago. I found a leak in the intake manifold and took it to a different dealer than I purchased the vehicle from to get better service. The bolts in the intake were not tightened to specs and backed out causing a leak. Also had to send the radio off twice to be repaired because of parts in the radio overheating and failing. I will not buy another vehicle from Ponitac as long as I have the memory of this car in my head.
