  • Perhaps a lemon? - 1999 Nissan Maxima

Overall this Maxima has been one of my favorite cars, but it hasnt been without some quirky mechanical defects that are just dumbfounding, including a fuel problem where I am only able to fill it up a third of a gallon at a time before it overflows. Several other issues have made me think twice about a future purchase, even though Ive had a lot of fun with this car.

  • The best car Ive driven. - 1999 Nissan Maxima
    By -

Purchased this car in June of 03 with 95,000 miles on it, it currently has 114,800 and the only thing Ive replaced so far is rear pads(they were factory originals!!) and fog light lens because a rock hit it. Some wood trim is deteriorating. The car has amazingly fast acceleration and speed for only 190HP 205TQ. Leather Heated Power seats are exceptional as well as the Power Heated mirrors. I HIGHLY recommend the Nissan Maxima SE -(L)

I think that it is a fun car to drive. It has too much road noise. The seats could be a more be comfortable. The leather is very durable and has upheld very well. I have not had to perform any unscheduled maintenance. The sound system is wonderful.

  • Maxima is good - 1999 Nissan Maxima

I bought this new and have been VERY pleased with it. I had the Check Engine soon light go on early in its life and they replaced some warranty part, all else went well until recently. Air bag light went on, spent $34 and found that there was no problem. The check engine light went on again and I ignored it and has since turned off. No other issues. I just replaced the Michelins

  • Cheap original parts - 1999 Nissan Maxima

I am the original owner, soon to be 4 years. The car is good, no questions about it. Main source of the problems - cheap and low-quality original parts that owner is responsible for. Tires wore out in 30K, clutch in about 48K of highway driving!!! A lot of people I know have the same problems: Nissan produces Maxim cheaper by pushing extra maintenance over owners. Beware!!!

  • poor gas mileage in Fl - 1999 Nissan Maxima

I have had nothing but fuel system issues with my two maximas. I purchased the first one in 1995 and after 70,000 miles the engine would shut down in the middle of the road. I purchased a 1999 and after 90,000 miles I am having major fuel problems. I have to put a bottle of fuel system cleaner in every fill up just to stop the rough idling...

  • 245,000 And Runs / Drives Like New! Amazing Car! - 1999 Nissan Maxima
    By -

My 1999 Nissan Maxima SE runs like BRAND NEW with 245,000+ miles. Yes, the factory ignition coils are a problem, but you can get some after markets on eBay for $114.00. Installation is very simple. You are also replacing your plug wires as well when you do this. Go ahead and replace the upstream OS sensor at the same time. You can get a new one for $23.00 on eBay. If your check engine is on, go to Autozone and have them turn it off after you do this. Many "experts" agree, the 1999 Nissan Maxima has the best drivetrain ever built with the exception of the toyota pickup 22R and 22RE. Its crazy but at 245,000 miles my Nissan Maxima has NO blowby at all. AMAZING car and fun car to drive.

  • Excellent Sporty Sedan - 1999 Nissan Maxima

My first four door car after owning sports cars then a Nissan Sentra SE-R. Bought off E-bay with 40,000 miles and extended warranty, didnt need the warranty, now at nearly 80,000 and literally nothing has gone wrong with the car, not even a bulb out. Got it because I wanted more room, practicality than my Sentra SE-R drove a 5-speed Maxima and it felt like a SE- R with a little more room, power and torque. Plan on keeping it for a long long time, little to fault with this car

  • An Amazing Car for the Money - 1999 Nissan Maxima

Got mine for a steal (right after the 2000 model came out). Better build quality than the 2000+ models. After 72,000 hard miles, this car is still as tight as a drum. Got my Boise stereo replaced under warranty at 25,000 miles but other than that, no problems ever. Funny thing is the more miles I drive it, the faster it gets and the more I like it! Gas mileage has improved too. Best v6 in the world. I expect to drive my SE to 250K miles before any problems.
