Overview & Reviews
For their second season in the U.S. market, the 2003 Mini Cooper and Cooper S will now come with a second remote key and pre-wiring for a dealer-installed alarm system. Anthracite (smoke gray, that is) interior trim is available as a no-cost option for both cars, and the Cooper S is eligible for the high-gloss silver interior treatment found in the base Cooper. Sound systems will be satellite radio-ready this year, and the rear cargo area now has a power point.
- The thrill of owning a piece of history with modern underpinnings, BMW-engineered suspension and steering, chock full of comfort and safety features, hatchback utility, scheduled maintenance on-the-house for 3 years/36,000 miles.
- Not enough horsepower in base model, questionable seat comfort, not much room for passengers and cargo, price goes up quickly with options, limited supply encourages dealer mark-up.

Sports car in sheeps clothing - 2003 Mini Cooper
By EBMCS - December 22 - 10:00 amI have had my car for about 2 weeks, and while I find small things here and there that could be improved, I LOVE this car. The car is everything I expected for the money I paid. Transmision is excellent as is handling. I drive the S and the HP is plenty for a car of this weight, and it is about as quite as can be. I cant believe the review by mcoMINI. If I rated cars on his scale 70% of the cars would have to come out with negative numbers, 20% below 5, and the rest would be out of 95% of the populations price range. Reviews like that ruin the average for a good car.

Blue Texas Cooper S - 2003 Mini Cooper
By RoverRyan - December 9 - 2:00 amJust bought this car two weeks ago and lovin it. Great dealer experience, and had a fun drive home back to Texas. Got it fully equipped, ever single option from the factory they offer. The NAV is virtually the same as in the Range Rovers that I sell here in Austin, and the only slight regret is not waiting for the DVD based NAV system Im sure they will go to. No real problems to speak of so far, other that the DSC light which comes on when I start the car sometimes (a quick restart and it turns off), and my trip odometer likes to reset to zero sometimes. But WOW what a fun, fun fun car to zing around.

My 2003 MINI Cooper is My Sports Car - 2003 Mini Cooper
By nervousashell - November 28 - 10:00 amI dont have the confidence to drive my bi-monthly 600 mile round trips. Ive owned it 6 months and have 3000 miles on it. I use it locally when I decide to go somewhere without my Doberman. You must be a light traveller, great sound system, excellent instrument panel, but not much room for other than a trip to a grocery store. If youre gonna travel a long distance, pack as light as possible. Youll not regret buying one of these $20,000 beauties.

Big Problem - 2003 Mini Cooper
By ts55 - November 22 - 2:00 amThe car has had a bad stumble from a standing start since I bought it. The service advisor at the dealership told me that it was "tranny slap" and a "characteristic" of the car. A representative from MINIUSA told me that they are aware of the problem. It is software related and also used the word "characteristic" to describe it. Whats the difference between a "defect" and a "characteristic"?

Coopers Rule ! - 2003 Mini Cooper
By Cathy Kuhl - October 16 - 10:00 amAbsolutely, totally satisfied with this purchase & would do it all over again! Lots of highway miles prove its not a "lightweight" blowing around on the interstate! Love the solid sound of the doors when closing! Interior has lots more room than eye reveals. I am thrilled that I "discovered" this car!!!!!! Of course, had spectacular customer service from the BEST dealer, Ferman Tampa Bay & continue so.
