The GX has a number of safety upgrades this year that include a roll-sensing feature for the side-curtain airbags, a tire-pressure monitoring system and an optional rear backup camera system (for those vehicles with the navigation system installed). An optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System will be available as a late-year addition.
- Luxurious cabin furnishings, plush ride quality, fine road manners, smooth drivetrain, plenty of off-road ability should you need it.
- Very tight quarters in optional third-row seat, limited rearward visibility, modest top-end horsepower.

A Great Car!!! - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By Snwht76 - November 26 - 5:36 amI LOVE THIS CAR!! I traded my Lincoln Navigator which was profoundly unreliable, for the GX470 and I couldnt be happier! I wasnt sure that there could be a smoother ride than the Lincoln but I was mistaken. This car is fun and fast and has all of the options one could want in a car. This was a quality purchase and I am completely impressed with the Lexus product!!

Stock stereo (sound) is nothing to brag about (previously had Bose) and I would upgrade if I had it to do again. Lack of dome light button to light entire interior cabin annoying at best. Seats are a little short for someone with long legs, but all SUVs Ive been in are the same. Auto tilt mirrors when backing up are great. Hard to manually operate lights/wipers/cruise at night because controls are not lighted and because everything generally runs great on automatic, in an instance you need to operate these manually, you are not familiar enough with.

We also wanted a Nav system and felt this was the best for the money. The GX470 is quiet and smooth. Our daughter loves the DVD and wife likes the feeling of safety she gets when driving.

Love It - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By euskadi92 - August 22 - 2:00 amI love my GX470. I did not buy it for its safety ratings. I bought it because I wanted all the bells and whistles. The GX470 has turned out better than I could ever expect. I couldnt think of any other car that I had had what I enjoyed more. It is extremely comfortable on long road trip. I was in a serious car accident in my GX and I survived while those other cars involved did not. I took most of the energy in that accident. I am convinced that the GX saved me. So I originally bought it for the bells and whistles and it ended up saving my life. I will forever drive a large Lexus SUV. For had I been in anything else, who knows where I would be.

The Navigation system is sensational. This is truly a vehicle that handles like a sports car but with all the capabilities of a SUV. The only downside is the bad gas mileage!

Process of elimination came down to new Sequoia, ML500,older LX470 and a 2004 GX470. BUY THE GX and dont look back. Its worth every penny.This car does everything but shave, shower and make love to you. The sales person said that comes with next years model. Rear camera has saved me twice, navigation is awesome,drove 600 miles in the mountains without a map. The DVD was a hit taking my children to Yosemite this week. The leather and wood interior is beautiful. My only complaint is that its so quiet that Im not aware Im driving 85-90, no kiddin

Love my Car - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By Jessica - February 6 - 3:40 amMy lexus has been the best car for me. I owned a 2004 for 2 years and just upgraded to a 2006. It rides smooth as glass (much better than my GM SUV). The car is all about making the driver comfortable. The Navigation system is easy to operate and a huge help. I have NEVER had to take my car in except for routine maintentance. I LOVE MY CAR!!

WORST LEXUS EVER - 2004 Lexus GX 470
By goodgimp - February 4 - 12:03 amThis GX is my second and last Lexus. Shakes like a Model T at 60 mph. Brakes stop the car with a loud and shaking "KLUNK" at the end of the stop. Nav system is woefully out of date. All the dealer can tell me is "Lexus is aware of your problems but doesnt have a fix at this time." Bad answer. . .
