Engine blown - 2014 Hyundai Elantra
By Carla Soleski - May 1 - 11:53 amI purchased a 2014 Hyundai Elantra in late 2014 new. The only reason was the 100,000 mile warranty. The car has 31000 miles and I owe approx $15,000 to Hyundai for it.I have owned Hondas, Toyotas and must say they have exceptional customer service and stand behind issues involving their vehicles. Hyundai fails in this area.I have never had an issue with this car, I have maintained it. On April 28th I was driving on the expressway, having no issue, when suddenly the oil pressure light flashed and I heard a loud noise and the engine shut down. I rolled to the shoulder. There was oil all over the ground under my vehicle.I called Hyundai roadside assistance and they were there within 30 minutes. They towed my car to the nearest Hyundai dealer, Webb Hyundai in Merrillville Indiana. Within a couple hours a technician named Jim called me to say that my engine was locked. He said it was ruined and would cost $7000 to replace. He went on to say that they will not honor the warranty because whoever changed my oil filter last overtightened it and the gasket was crushed, sticking out, which caused all the oil to leak out. #1 The oil change was in January, the car is parked daily and nightly on a white concrete driveway. ‪#‎2There‬ is no sign of oil, not one drop. If it was an issue with the oil filter, I would have had a problem within days of the filter installation. A mechanic friend believes it was a problem inside the engine that caused the regulation valve to stick, the high pressure cause the catastrophic event, deformed the filter & the gasket between the filter and the base blew out and the system lost oil causing the engine to seize. I have filed a complaint with the corporate office to no avail. I have spoken with the district manager at Duke of Oil in Hobart Indiana, who claims no negligence. He told me the same thing my mechanic friend says, that it is an engine issue and Hyundai should replace my engine. Webb Hyundai told me to tow my car out and they offered no resolution at all. Now I will sit with a car that doesnt run in my driveway, I cant afford to repair it , and I have to make the payments to Hyundai every month or my credit will be ruined. I am hoping everyone will share this so others will not buy Hyundai vehicles. Warranties are important, that is why most of us buy new cars. Hyundai is lax in not taking care of their customers and it needs to change . I believe Hyundai legally has to prove that it is not their engine issue to void the warranty? They seem to be making up a story to get out of standing behind their product.I will be consulting an attorney.

Still in Love - 2014 Hyundai Elantra
By LawtonLady - September 13 - 11:44 amI purchased my elantra June 2014, 15 months and 12000 miles later, it is still a great vehicle. I have been through many cars, I get the car shopping itch almost yearly, and after checking out all the new models and value in the market, for the first time ever, I decided the vehicle I had already was still the best option. Its very stylish, my limited has all the sleek technology of any extremely pricey vehicles, but for a deal that cant be beat. It drives really well, I mainly use it for my daily work, school, and hoke trips, but I have taken long distance drives and it handles great. I was looking into a suv, for more room, better suspension, and less road noise, but unless your willing to pay $35,000 or more for the same features, you wont find a vehicle with a better bang for its buck. Its economical, save with price, save on gas, and I havent had any maintenance issues so save on repairs.

Great Car, Great Value - 2014 Hyundai Elantra
By eflatblues - June 29 - 12:25 pmI wanted to wait till my first year of ownership was completed before offering my opinion. As of July 3rd I will have owned my 2014 Elantra SE Manual for a year and have put a little over 16,000 miles on it. My thoughts after a year is that this is a very good, solid, economical and reliable automobile and has been completely trouble free. I really like the styling and find the car very comfortable to drive. The fuel economy is fantastic. Mixed city/highway cycle returns 36.4 mpg and if I am keeping a steady 70 – 72 on the highway I consistently get 40.2. The Elantra is an exceptional value and is worthy of consideration in a new car purchase.

By William Rice - March 30 - 5:29 pmI am not sure about the bad reviews because I love mine. I owned everything from, Pintos to Caddys. I like the car all the way around and feel it is one of the most under rated cars out there.

I really enjoy my new Elantra - 2014 Hyundai Elantra
By red_rider28 - September 22 - 12:38 pmI purchased the Elantra SE on June 8th and so far I have put about 4700 miles on it. It is a very comfortable car for my commute of about 50 miles round trip daily. I have taken several long road trips of over 300 miles with no issues. Over all I could not have asked for more from Hyundai. I am a loyal customer as I also own a 2012 Hyundai Accent SE.

Love this car! - 2014 Hyundai Elantra
By chrisw5000 - August 5 - 11:10 amI bought my 2014 Elantra Sport one month ago. I have 1000 miles on it and have enjoyed every mile! I love the larger 2.0 engine and more power over the the 1.8 liter. Its like driving a sportscar with the functionality of a sedan. I have a 4 year old so you can see how functionality is important. Im getting better gas milage than what was shown on the window sticker (with the Active ECO turned on). You do sacrifice power for the economy however. I almost bought a Sonata turbo but decided the Elantra Sport was a much better value for my budget and I still get the sporty feeling I was yearning for. The more I drive it, the more I like it. Get yours today, youll like it too!

Great car for the money. - 2014 Hyundai Elantra
By schbullitt - June 25 - 11:08 amI have only driven the car for 500 miles but, for the money, this is an excellent car. I bought the Sport model because I wanted the extra power and the car is very responsive. The car is extremely tight no body or suspension noises. My only complaint is the tires. I would have liked more of a performance tire or at least an option for one. The Hankook is okay but I can see me getting a better tire when these are half worn. I have read about these tires and according to reviews, they do not perform well in the snow. That remains to be seen. My wife, who really isnt into cars, loves this car. So, overall, I would highly recommend this car, especially when you factor in the price.
