Changes are minimal for the XC90's second year on the market. All models get wheel and tire upgrades -- 2.5Ts will wear 225/70R17 rubber and T6s will wear 235/65R17 rubber, but both get the same 17-inch "Neptune" wheels. Ice White is a new exterior color choice. Stand-alone options now include a wood steering wheel, aluminum dash inlays and a leather shift knob.
- Safe as a bank vault, plush ride, feels smaller than it is, high-quality interior materials, ample cargo room.
- Turbocharged T6 engine not well suited to SUV duty, third-row seating takes up too much second-row space.

Wouldnt buy first year model ever again - 2004 Volvo XC90
By NY to LA Gal - July 31 - 10:00 amToo many kinks -- seatbelts not working and were recalled, turbo too noisy. The car hesitates/drags between first and second, which is especially dangerous when making a left turn from a light. Also, when closing hatch it smacked down on my head.

250,000 Miles - 2004 Volvo XC90
By LJ - July 19 - 10:46 pmMy fiances 2004 T6 AWD Volvo has 250,000 miles and it drives like its brand new. Its had no problems (just regular maintenance). He changes the oil regularly and uses premium gas. His dad (a small business owner) has two newer Volvos he purchased as company cars that have also racked up some miles, and they also drive wonderfully. My fiance and his dad absolutely love Volvo XC90s and this lead me to purchase one for myself. I recently bought a used 2004 2.5T FWD with 53,000 miles and I love it so far. I hope she also makes it to 250,000!

With this car I get that, along with pep, performance, fuel economy, style and everything else youd want in an SUV. You dont need the bigger engine to have the "get up and go". You can have it and better gas milage with the 2.5T.

We bought it because it had all the safety features that we wanted which were ahead of its time, its nice size, and its towing capacity. Despite the practical reasons for buying this car, it is fun! The power is incredible. It has phenomenal acceleration even at high speeds on the highway. It is usually no contest, even against other sport sedans. I have had this car for five years and 80,000 miles. It is the only car that I have loved for more than a couple years, and it is just as fun as the day we bought it.

By jaymiz - May 29 - 10:00 amAwesome! After trying to negotiate for a 3 series and falling way short from what the dealer thought was reasonable, we went over to the Volvo dealership. It took my wife two seconds to decide that she wanted the car and didnt even test drive it! It has everything and more. This SUV is a sure bet with its options and styling.

XC90 + Extended Warranty = Happy Driver - 2004 Volvo XC90
By SafeDriver - May 21 - 3:50 amI really like my XC90. While it has had some minor issues, overall it has been a pleasure to own. After driving this vehicle in LA, i got rear ended badly (the Lexus was totaled that hit me) and my XC90 was a tank. I cant say enough good things about his vehicle.

All around SUV and reliable vehicle - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Stretch999th - May 11 - 2:00 amHAve owned approximately three months now - has performed flawlessly in blizzard conditions and handles great in the city. Pleased with the ride, interior, etc. The rear windshield wiper nut cover came off but was replaced without question at the dealership. So far, no major problems to report.
