Overview & Reviews
Changes are minimal for the XC90's second year on the market. All models get wheel and tire upgrades -- 2.5Ts will wear 225/70R17 rubber and T6s will wear 235/65R17 rubber, but both get the same 17-inch "Neptune" wheels. Ice White is a new exterior color choice. Stand-alone options now include a wood steering wheel, aluminum dash inlays and a leather shift knob.
- Safe as a bank vault, plush ride, feels smaller than it is, high-quality interior materials, ample cargo room.
- Turbocharged T6 engine not well suited to SUV duty, third-row seating takes up too much second-row space.

An exceptional SUV from Volvo - 2004 Volvo XC90
By HappywithmyXC90 - October 31 - 10:00 amI waited for this vehicle a long time and I am glad I did. My T6 is in Sapphire Black with graphite interior and it is absolutely beautiful. The quality of materials and workmanship is outstanding. This SUV is pleasure to drive, rugged and sophisticated at the same time. I love the performance and the ride, not to mention feeling safe and confident on the road.

Radio Problems - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Ron - October 25 - 1:33 amMy XC-90 has had very unusual problems, so the dealer informs me. One month out of warranty, the rear bearings needed to be replaced. The headlight covers are pitted and dis colored. The wheel nuts had to be replaced twice. The first time for rust the second time for wear???? The very last repair and most upsetting was for a new infotainment module. The problem began when the radio began looking like a disco. The lights began flashing and periodically the radio would shut off and the display would go blank. I can live without the radio, but when this problem corrupted the Air bag system to the point it might not work, I had to have it fixed at a cost of$1350.00 Volvo would do nothing

Love my Volvo - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Cape Cod - October 21 - 10:36 amFrom the first day I bought the car it has been great. I have to take it on long trips and Ive always felt safe even in some bad storms. I have a very steep driveway and in the winter the car handles it fine. It has great gas mileage for the size and comfort of the car. It still looks like new in and out. Im looking to buy another one.

Must see before Benz, Acura & BMW buy - 2004 Volvo XC90
By zuomo - October 19 - 2:00 amI was pleasantly surprised with the innovativations within the interior. More room than its competitors + safety first. I personally like the body style better than the BenzM320, Acura MDX and the over priced BMW. The Volvo handles well and the interior is luxury just like youd find in more $$$ competitors. Im very happy and satisfied. (If i had to do it again Id get the ALL wheel drive option. FW drive pulls steering on quick acelleration).

Never again - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Trispace - October 18 - 11:50 pmWe purchased this car because my wife always wanted a Volvo. This vehicle has been nothing but trouble. Every three months something new is going wrong. A visit to the Dealership is going to be a minimum $500 and has been as high as $2500. Brakes, wheel bearings, oxygen sensor, sway bar, you name it. Every time the Service light comes on a Volvo certified dealership is required to reset it. Beware

2.5AWD - 2004 Volvo XC90
By HappyXC90Owner - October 14 - 10:00 amVery comfortable ride, and easy to drive. I like the split tail/liftgate which makes the huge cargo room easy to load. The liftgate is smaller than many comparable SUVs and I can easily open it in the garage with the garage door closed. Researched many midsized SUVs and the XC90 had the best interior space for limited exterior size that could easily fit in our small garage. No problems with the car at all. Performed VERY well in deep snow in the mountains this past winter where many other 4WD vehicles had problems. Did not buy this vehicle to drive off road but I was glad to know how well it handled.

Volvo XC90 Review - 2004 Volvo XC90
By John - October 11 - 2:53 pmMy Volvo XC90 defiantly rides smooth and quiet. The only complaint about the whole car is the pickup speed and acceleration. It is jerky sometimes when you go to accelerate. Other than that everything else makes up for that one flaw.

Best in class - 2004 Volvo XC90
By bballnut - September 24 - 10:00 amExceeded my expectations. Fun to drive and performs well in bad weather. Pulls the PWCs out of water without slipping on the ramp. Center section of rear seat folds to keep two kids separated and provides a place to set the Playstation 2 for playing games and watching DVDs. Also a great place to put the water skis. Fold flat 3rd row seats provide ample storage space for dog cage and luggage.

Never again will I buy a Volvo! Hate it! - 2004 Volvo XC90
By DomandKim - August 31 - 1:46 amI hate this car! Bought new, all options but the GPS, over $50K. At 200 miles needed a new fuel tank, original was cracked. Heres what went wrong: Xenon headlight fogged replaced, almost killed myself because they were pointing down, night visibility after reinstall of the new ones was 10 feet! Then the tail lights leaked filled with water, replaced, power steering unit, replaced, computer replaced, fuel tank door fell off 2Xs, windshield wipers broke, CD player and back-up signal beeper stopped working, brakes after 20K miles, tires every 22K miles, water filled the roof, wanted $900 to remove interior to let it "dry out"! Suspension bushings needed replacement, & on & on. I HATE IT!

Good Vehicle - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Davey60 - August 26 - 8:23 pmBought this as a CPO after my Highlander was totaled - was looking for a little bigger SUV. I am not disapointed. Did lots a research on the SUV and knew enough to stay away from the T6 with its trannsmission problems.
