This Year's Model Updates:

Changes are minimal for the XC90's second year on the market. All models get wheel and tire upgrades -- 2.5Ts will wear 225/70R17 rubber and T6s will wear 235/65R17 rubber, but both get the same 17-inch "Neptune" wheels. Ice White is a new exterior color choice. Stand-alone options now include a wood steering wheel, aluminum dash inlays and a leather shift knob.

Pros:
  • Safe as a bank vault, plush ride, feels smaller than it is, high-quality interior materials, ample cargo room.
Cons:
  • Turbocharged T6 engine not well suited to SUV duty, third-row seating takes up too much second-row space.

  • Fun and Safety, All in One Car - 2004 Volvo XC90

This car is a blast to drive - smooth, quiet, comfortable, with controls all in easy-to-use locations. Third row of seats, integrated booster seat and state-of-the-art safety features make this car very family-friendly. A convenient, sporty, yet sophisticated choice for the discriminating soccer mom.

GREAT AUTOMOBILE. GET THE 2.5L TURBO AWD.DRIVES LIKE A CAR. FOR THOSE PEOPLE LOOKING FOR AN SUV THAT DRIVES LIKE A CAR BUT HAS AMPLE ROOM, THIS IS THE VEHICLE. THIRD ROW SEATING IS MADE FOR CHILDREN OR SMALL ADULTS. GREAT THING IS ALL SEATS CAN FOLD DOWN INDIVIDUALLY, GIVING YOU PLENTY OF CARGO OPTIONS. CHILD BOOSTER SEAT ON THE VERSATILITY PACKAGE IS AWESOME. VOLVO REALLY TOOK THEIR TIME ON THIS ONE. ONLY CON TO THE VEHICLE SO FAR IS NO ARM REST FOR THE DRIVER. KIND OF AWKWARD AT FIRST. THIS VEHICLE IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY SPENT. GET ONE!!!

  • Direct from the Factory - 2004 Volvo XC90

Retrieved our vehicle directly at Goteborg, Sweden, drove all over Europe and this vehicle exceeded my expectations 10 fold. The T5 is not underpowered as some complain ( it will beat my 5 liter Explorer no problem )and I can attest to its 120 mph speed on autobahn. ( there is an RPM governor, otherwise shell go faster). Driving the Alps was exciting w/ manual gear-tronic trans - dont have to burn brakes. (5 speed good idea here )Tour the factory to see them buid the XC90.

  • Good All Weather Performer - 2004 Volvo XC90

The XC 90 is a reliable powerhouse especially when negotiating mountainous curves. Although, it cant compare to the handling capabilities of the original 1998 XC 70. That was a great vehicle! The XC 90 interior is very nice and comfortable as well as aesthically pleasing. The exterior is described as "cute" by most of my friends. My XC 90 is black with tan interior and custum wheels. I think it looks flashy in an understated way. It turns heads.

  • Finally Got One - 2004 Volvo XC90
    By -

After 6 long months of waiting, we finally got our XC-90(2004 Model). Overall, its all the car we expected it to be and then some. The leather seats are extremely comfortable and provide adequate lumbar and under the knee support. The XC-90 handles more like a sports sedan than an SUV and takes the bumps well. Lots of safety features. Awesome vehicle. Having said all that, the XC-90 does have some minor drawbacks. First off, our Volvo dealer wasnt willing to budge on the sticker price, period. What you see is what you get. First time weve ever had to pay sticker on a car. Bottom line is....get one if you can.

  • The XC-90 - 2004 Volvo XC90

I have driven Jeep Grand Cherokees for several years and was very accustomed to their ride. In comparison, the Volvo drives and rides like a regular car and not like a SUV. I have also been impressed with the performance and Volovs attention to detail. This is a fun car to drive and own.

  • My new Volvo T6 AWD - 2004 Volvo XC90

I have only had my Volvo XC 90 for 3 weeks but so far love it. I did a lot of research before deciding on this vehicle. I love it because I have 3 young children and needed a vehicle with a third row, but did not want a minivan or a truck. The Volvo drives the most like a car(compared to others I tested), and still functions like an SUV. The second row seats are very versatile and slide forward so my kids can climb into the third row easily. It is a lot of fun to drive.

This is a great vehicle with good power and performance. Styling is awesome and turns heads where ever you go. Gas mileage is a disappointment though.

  • Awesome SUV - 2004 Volvo XC90

We test drove Chevy Tahoes, Toyota Highlanders and 4Runners, Acura MDX and none of them performed like the XC90. Ive always liked Volvos design, and this was exactly what we wanted. 3 rows of seats for kids. Sporty and very functional, plus safe. Once you test drive the XC90 on a mountain road verses the others, youll choose the XC90.

  • Great for Cross Country drive - 2004 Volvo XC90
    By -

Drove my XC90 all over Europe and from the East coast to the West coast - great performance. Averaged 18mpg but also had a large Thule roof carrier which dragged the milage down approx. 2mpg. Overall an awesome vehicle. Had a problem with a pedal sensor when I picked up the vehicle in Annapolis, MD but dealer quickly repaired it.
