Overview & Reviews
Changes are minimal for the XC90's second year on the market. All models get wheel and tire upgrades -- 2.5Ts will wear 225/70R17 rubber and T6s will wear 235/65R17 rubber, but both get the same 17-inch "Neptune" wheels. Ice White is a new exterior color choice. Stand-alone options now include a wood steering wheel, aluminum dash inlays and a leather shift knob.
- Safe as a bank vault, plush ride, feels smaller than it is, high-quality interior materials, ample cargo room.
- Turbocharged T6 engine not well suited to SUV duty, third-row seating takes up too much second-row space.

Id Buy It Again - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Mike - August 11 - 11:43 amI was apprehensive about buying an SUV, especially since it was a larger vehicle than I thought that I needed. However, if you think that 18 to 19 around town is OK and 22 to 26 on the highway is fine, consider the XC90. If you like a very comfortable and good handling car to drive for business and personal use, this SUV should be considered. I have been very pleased.

1st Year 2004 - 2004 Volvo XC90
By myxc90 - August 9 - 10:00 amWe purchased our Volvo through the Volvo OSD (OverSeas Delivery) program and it was a great experience. This 6000lb truck drives like a really big sports car. MYXC90dotCOM

Great vehicle - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Bonemond - August 9 - 10:00 amComing from a BMW 330 convertible, I was skeptical about climbing into one of the big lumbering SUVs that crowd the roads, and the idea of just 5 cylinders trying to power 1000lbs. more than my convertible made me more skeptical. After the test drive and 1000+ miles of ownership, I am very happy with my XC90 2.5T. My earlier concerns about performance are gone - the 2.5T is more engine than this vehicle needs in just about any driving situation. The XC90 drives, performs, and handles like a much smaller car than it really is. Im definitely impressed!

Volvo XC 90 T6 Turbo AWD Fantastic! - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Elizabeth - July 17 - 12:23 pmI purchased my Volvo XC90 4 years ago, and Im very happy with my decision. For a large SUV, this one drives smoothly - not like a truck. Its very easy to handle. The steering/turning radius is incredible; it turns on a dime. Contrary to a couple of the reviews here, my experience with the acceleration is very positive. I find that theres no lag time between braking and resuming driving. In fact, when the light turns green, my XC90 gets the jump on cars beside me (and I dont floor it). Although I have the third row, I mostly keep it down; my family is able to take long trips with seemingly no end to the cargo space. While no gas-saver, I get around 19 city and 23 highway.

Such a great car! - 2004 Volvo XC90
By lapidusa - May 31 - 5:26 pmI was hesitant to get what I thought was a pretty fancy car, but it was such a good purchase. The car really is many things all at once. It drives like a sports car even with a 5 cylinder engine. It packs gear like a big car yet is not a tremendous SUV. It handles sketchy terrain well yet hums down the highway very politely. The interior is thoughtful and well crafted. And on top of that, it really seems to make some conscious effort to be a thoughtful car (ultra low emmision engine, safety features for both occupants and pedestrians). Luxurious without being offensive. Not a single problem mechanically.

Volvo XC90 - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Minda - March 1 - 2:00 amAfter reviewing and comparing cars for a year we chose to purchase the Volvo XC90. We were even treated to a tour of the factory in Sweden as an incentive for our purchase. We are thrilled with our car and would recommend it to anyone interested in a luxury SUV with all the extras at an affordable price!!!

Best car I have ever owned - 2004 Volvo XC90
By pj8 - February 19 - 1:07 pmI have never had a better experience with a car. I have owned a Honda, Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Toyota, and this Volvo has by far been the best car out of all my experiences. I have over 130,000 miles on it and it runs like it is new. I have never kept a car this long, but I never want to get rid of it! I have taken really good care of this car and kept up all the maintenance, so maybe if you dont thats where the problems come in that other people are having.

What are you waiting for - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Natsdad - January 31 - 10:00 amThe 2004 Volvo XC90 hits a home run in my book. The car has everything you could want in ANY vehicle, it just so happens to be a SUV. First rate styling inside and out , fantastic fuel economy 18/24,all the safety features you could ask for at a price, that while not the cheapest on the lot, puts most of the other so called Luxury vehicles to shame. The best Navigation system out there.Ive had 3 others before and not one can match it for ease of use and accuracy.
