Overview & Reviews
Changes are minimal for the XC90's second year on the market. All models get wheel and tire upgrades -- 2.5Ts will wear 225/70R17 rubber and T6s will wear 235/65R17 rubber, but both get the same 17-inch "Neptune" wheels. Ice White is a new exterior color choice. Stand-alone options now include a wood steering wheel, aluminum dash inlays and a leather shift knob.
- Safe as a bank vault, plush ride, feels smaller than it is, high-quality interior materials, ample cargo room.
- Turbocharged T6 engine not well suited to SUV duty, third-row seating takes up too much second-row space.

Excellent handling for a vehicle of this weight 4. Excellent brakes. 5. Good sound system

I love this SUV..Nothing compares - 2004 Volvo XC90
By bosco325 - July 21 - 2:00 amI am so happy with my new XC90. It rides like a big luxury car in a mid- size SUV body. I had a minivan with NO cargo space...I still cant believe what I can fit into my XC90. As far as comfort..I definately give it a 10. You can control everything with the touch of a button. I recommend this vehicle..100%

volvo xc90 - 2004 Volvo XC90
By youngdiane - July 21 - 2:00 amMostly love this car..however, acceleration transition after stop signs and around corners after stop signs is not smooth... only other complaints or constructive criticism is seeing side traffic .. blind spot difficult to see w/doors and also, reflection of top of dash board into window is significant. however....... LOVE the ride and the way it handles. Nice interior/exterior.. great sound system. handles well otherwise..

Love my XC90! - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Love my car!! - June 29 - 1:36 amI purchased my Volvo XC90 2.5T in August of 2003, in Sweden. We took advantage of the European Delivery package being offered and had a delightful stay in Sweden, courtesy of Volvos two round trip tickets to Europe, plus hotel acccommodations. We drove around Scandinavia and then returned to the factory, where the car was shipped free of charge. I am getting up to 21 MPG on highway, and average about 18 MPG around town. Service has been excellent and we have had virtually no negative experiences with this car. Its worth every penny. We have also really taken advantage of our third row of seats, a real buying point for us, as I refused to consider a minivan, but wanted additional room.

By dmassey - June 9 - 2:00 amOver all I love this car. My second volvo. I have a 2001 s-80. Only problem has been with the driver side automatic window. Bought the car in Santa Monica Calif. but have it service at San Diego Volvo where I live. Great dealership. Very comfortable and easy to drive car. Turbo isnt working hard at 75mph. Gas mileage is so so.

Bring your checkbook - 2004 Volvo XC90
By letsrole - May 24 - 9:56 amI purchased this vehicle used with 107,000 miles. I should have checked Edmunds reviews 1st. At 117,000 miles, just like previous reviews - transmission problems. Cost for replacement, $6,000 and only a one year warranty.

Hard to find a better SUV - 2004 Volvo XC90
By Caly - May 2 - 10:00 amI went to the Frankfurt Auto Show in late September after purchasing my Volvo in the beginning of August. I couldnt find a vehicle I liked better. Designed with safety in mind, this SUV drives like a car, has plenty of room, is very comfortable and seats 7 when you need to. This vehicle is very well thought out. Get the 2.5T vs. the T6: Better transmission(5 vs. 4-speed), better fuel economy, and faster 0-60. The T6 is for those who want the top model but do not do their homework.
