Overview & Reviews
The VW Passat has been redesigned inside and out for 2006. The current version is 3 inches longer and 3 inches wider than its predecessor, with a more spacious cabin. Initially, VW will offer only a sedan, but the wagon rejoins the lineup later in the 2006 model year. Engine choices include the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6; last year's diesel engine option has been dropped. Trim levels have been renamed and recast; the Passat now comes in Value Edition, 2.0T, 3.6 and 3.6 4Motion trims.
- Powerful engines, excellent ride and handling dynamics, roomy and upscale interior, outstanding build and materials quality, available all-wheel drive.
- V6 models are expensive compared to Japanese rivals.

Im Still a VW Girl... - 2006 Volkswagen Passat
By attaymik - January 18 - 1:33 amI wrote a review when I first bought the car in December 2005. Its got 8,200 miles on it now. I had a check engine light come on and the mirror on the drivers side went out, both were taken care of promptly. Ive owned eight cars since 1989 and every one of them (two Accords and one Maxima just to name a few) had repairs that had to be fixed. There is no exception here. The turbo lags a little in D, but is right on the money in Sport mode. This car is still a blast to drive. It gets great gas mileage and has so far been reliable. Ill check in again when it hits a year. Thank goodness I can use 89 gas and not just 91!

Best Car on Market - 2006 Volkswagen Passat
By 04sienna - January 9 - 1:50 pmThis car has everything needed to make anyone happy. It has a performance of a porsche, with the best looks on a car ever seen, and is a solid German car. There is no car that compares to it, with it perfect combination. This is one of the best cars ever owned with the lowest price. Dont let the reviews that the passat isnt meant for america drive you away, it is a fine German luxury import. It doesnt have full power seats, but what car is there that has everything else.

My 3rd VW - 2006 Volkswagen Passat
By Bradley - January 1 - 3:13 pmThis is my third VW, after 20 years without one. I test drove a comparable Accord, Camry, etc. They all boast better reliability, but cannot compare to the performance, comfort, quietness, and quality feel of this car. I get 30+ MPG highway. My reliability issues: I had squeaky front suspension in cold weather, VW put in new struts under warranty. I had a lot of squeaks in doors, but was easily solved with using silicone spray where ever rubber seals touch metals surfaces. (The outside door seals were the culprit, not the inner rubber, if you have this problem).
