This Year's Model Updates:

A four-door version and a new Fahrenheit trim joins the VW GTI lineup for 2007. Other than that, changes are minor, as VW's hot hatch was redesigned midway through 2006. Updates include a slightly lower ride height, restyled alloy wheels, standard launch control for the DSG transmission, a standard tire-pressure monitor and simplified cruise-control actuation. On the audio front, there's a new standard auxiliary input jack and an optional Apple iPod-specific adapter.

Pros:
  • Hatchback utility, upscale features and interior design, strong turbocharged engine, optional sequential-shifting DSG gearbox.
Cons:
  • Higher price than those of its competitors, handling nimbleness dulled by beefy curb weight.

My Gti was the perfect car for me. I am a college student and I am more than likely always in a rush. The Gti has a great responsive clutch and the ability to grip the road better than most bmws along side with the performance the maintenance was extremely high than most its competitives but I rarely had to take it to the shop. I drove the car from California to Georgia with no problems or issues the ride was comfortable and enjoyableIve had it for two years and the quality was good compared to others of that same year. I had little problems with the electronics like the iPod connector and the windows.

I have owned this car for a month now and it was definitely worth the hassle and wait. Four doors are a must. It has awesome power and handling!

I have only owned my GTI for three days now but I am really enjoying it. I was not a huge fan of VWs before my wife wanted to go look at them when we seen this car and drove it I had to have it. I first thought what am I doing dropping this much money on a 2-door hatchback but after driving it more and feeling the performance this little thing has it is worth it. If you are thinking of looking at one drive it before you look at the sticker price.

  • VW GTI - Great Performance to Economy - 2007 Volkswagen GTI

Traded a Touareg V8 - Loaded for the New GTI MKV. The replacement is economically friendly and no disappointment to drive. The best features include the DSG transmission. There is a little too much road noise - but nothing too distracting.

This car is not only a true drivers car but is also refined and comfortable for a long distance drive. Its moderate pricing sets it apart from more expensive cars such as a BMW or Audi. Long term quality has in the past been an issue, but in my initial 5,000 miles and 7 weeks of ownership, I have not seen any problems.

  • GTI MkV -- Nice - 2007 Volkswagen GTI

After trading in a 350Z with reliability problems, I wanted something practical that would still be fun to drive. With the GTI, I do not feel like I made much of a sacrifice. This car is a blast to drive. It is quick and nimble. Im not sure that Im a joiner type, so the VW community still scares me a little..but I love the car.

  • 100,000 miles later and still a satisfied customer - 2007 Volkswagen GTI

I bought this car new. It now has 110,000 miles on it (more highway than city) and its been 100% reliant. All Ive ever done is maintenance, oil changes, tires around 60K, brakes around 70K, a taillight. I had the a/c compressor just go out (around 95,000) and I just got the timing chain redone for piece of mind. The biggest pain really has been changing the air filter.

  • GTI vs. 325i? No Contest - 2007 Volkswagen GTI

The VW GTI is more fun to drive than the BMW 325i and it holds four comfortably with room for the dog in the hatch. It even costs about $15,000 less than a similarly-equipped BMW. It is larger and cheaper than the Audi A3. It is almost as much fun to drive as the Mini Cooper S, but sized for non-hobbits. It has the best transmission available - period. I have had it for only one month and 800 miles, but it has no rattles, squeaks, or problems of any kind. Its gas mileage has been 27 mpg combined using manual shift/sport mode and a heavy foot. It gets 30+ on the highway.

  • Best all-around car....period... - 2007 Volkswagen GTI

After owning SUVs, sports cars, economy cars, this is THE best all-around car that combines features of each of the above-listed automobiles. Fuel economy is excellent when compared to the performance. Sure you can get 40 mgg in a prius but the drive is boring, Ill take the 31-34 mpg in a fun-to-drive GTI any day. Ive owned the car for 2.5 years and have had absolutely no problems with it, besides a small rattle in the rear drivers-side door panel that the dealership was able to fix at no charge. I usually get bored with cars after a year or two but this GTI is the only car Ive owned that I am seriously considering buying after my lease is up.

  • It wins your heart! - 2007 Volkswagen GTI

I bought my GTI new and it was my first car. I have loved it!!! Its been very reliable and fun to drive, as well as economical on gas, a great value. I have had no problems with the car and it has over 40,000 mi on it now. I am happy to have had this as my first car! I hope to keep it until it finally dies one day.
