  • Love it,but!! - 2000 Volkswagen Eurovan

I love my VW Eurovan, but after 37000 miles I started experiencing major and minor breakdowns, quite expensive. No help or support from Volkswagen. Might have to go back to American made. Too bad because it is a great family van.

With the rear seats facing each other and a fold up table, the kids actually interact on trips. Weve camped in it, taken Scouts on trips, and everyone seems to love the space and layout. The VR6 engine is powerful and sounds great, although it drinks Premium fuel to provide such big punch in a small displacement. It takes up less space in the garage than our last mini-van, but its larger inside. You sit tall, eye to eye with the big SUV drivers, but arent driving a gas guzzler! Doors close with the assurance of a bank vault. This van is built to last, better get one while you can!

We actually have the EuroVan Camper. Its more driveable than other conversion vans and handles well. My wife, who is fairly short, can see traffic well. The tranny went at 9k miles. Weve spend about $2000 in repairs this year alone. We paid a lot for this vehicle expecting quality - and its been nothing but problems.

We bought our Eurovan this summer for frequent weekend trips. It is wonderful, exactly what we needed. Its very roomy and easy to change the interior to match our needs. The seats come in and out quickly, The poptop is easy to put up. The car holds us, our kids, and our dogs with no problems. Put the bikes on the back and we are good to go. This is the best vehicle we have owned.

  • Great All Around Van for Family - 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan

Great van for a larger family. Chose the Eurovan MV as our 3rd child was on the way, and needed a van able to accomadate 3 child seats across the back. Eurovan was the only "minivan" which could. Slept once on the fold down bed- not bad. Averaging around 17.5 to 18 mpg combined. Have 5,500 miles on the clock. Great handling, performance for a van, with loads of room. I seated seven with 5 full size suit cases & 3 carry ons in the back. Climate control works fine, and engine configuration is accessible for those who want to work on engine.

Let me start by saying I love this van. We are a camping and bike racing family, and we love the utility, comfort and space. HOWEVER - the HVAC system, which I replaced outside of warranty, has been a problem. 5 dealer visits in 18 months, and the error code for the HVAC just started flashing again - so I guess 6 visits (expensive ones) in 18 months. Other problems (electronic mostly) have also cropped up making this the most expensive vehicle to keep on the road I have ever owned. And this is in the first 80,000 miles.

  • 2002 VW Eurovan weekender review - 2002 Volkswagen Eurovan

Love the power and sitting up high. Suggestions for improvement: remote control that only unlocks drivers door, not all doors at same time (this could be unsafe; a stranger could jump in other side as one enters drivers door), automatic door locking as vehicle starts to move, glovebox in front of passenger seat. would like FLAT back seat so when its turned into a bed it is not so lumpy and uneven. I was disappointed that my new 2002 did not have a standard CD player (only am/fm/cassette). Im the original owner & have owned 2 other VW vans.. the 1990 pop top was superb. Id love to see the 1990 set up, but put the engine in the front and add safety air bags and a v-6 engine.

  • Quirky with a Great View - 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan

Youll ride high in the saddle with a Eurovan in your corral. Takes premium gas, entry/exit is a bit awkward, only has one slider but oh, the view. We love the German fit and finish and the caverous space, especially without the rear facing seat in our MV Weekender model. If youre looking for a top handling model pass on this one, but if you have touring and camping in mind this is one of a kind.

  • FUN FOR THE FAMILY - 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan
    By -

We have the Weekender package and have gone on several camping trips from 2 days to 3 weeks. Both of our kids (9&2) love it. Been to St.Augustine, FL and Death Valley, CA and lots in between. Great way to do things as a family. Van drives very well at freeway speeds and is quite stable, more so than it appears since it is tall. After driving a Chrysler van on a business trip, I really appreciate the VW, far better to drive, more room, more responsive. Overall very well built, machinery is very accessible after removing engine pan. (need to do that even for oil change) Tire wear is very good, looks like well get 55-60k on original tires.

  • One problem after another - 2003 Volkswagen Eurovan
    By -

Weve had one problem after another with our Eurovan. Great when everything works correctly. The outside door handles have now failed twice (both front doors!). Told by VW that its not a design flaw, out of warranty and paid nearly $800 to have them fixed only to have the drivers side fail again 6 months later. Now I cant unlock the doors with the keyless entry or hand key without them locking again immediately. Looking for a replacement vehicle now.
