Not a little Tundra - 1996 Toyota T100
By cometcal - January 10 - 3:24 pmI would consider the T100 to be a big brother to a Tacoma of the same vintage, They both have the same engine. Most all Tundras have bigger engines. Since the T100 is bigger than the Tacoma but smaller than a Tundra - it's just the right size to maneuver around traffic and to load most of the materials you need for your major home projects.

Best Adventure Rig! - 1996 Toyota T100
By Craig - December 4 - 8:14 pmi do a lot of exploring off the pavement and in the mountains where i live in the American West. The T100 is by far the best adventure truck that i have owned =) Big enough to comfortably seat 4 adults and 2 dogs; small enough to get into most places without much difficulty. i have had to replace many parts on it, however some of them were the originals that decided to finally give out after 20+ years and 360,000+ miles =)

luvmytoyota - 1997 Toyota T100
By VT truck - September 15 - 2:00 amToyota has built a good truck. I have driven my truck across country twice with a full load, and I never had a problem. I have 76,000 on the truck now and I have only had to do the routine work to keep it running great. The driver seat can get a little uncomfortable on long drives.

Solid Performer is Underrated - 1998 Toyota T100
By km - October 25 - 2:00 amCritics panned the T100 when it was introduced; too small, they said. Its the perfect size for me. Plenty of power, lots more cabin space than the Tacoma, plenty of cargo space, with Toyota reliability. At 62" I find plenty of room inside. Its been very reliable so far. The interior looks dated with the old style controls, and there are too many stalks on the steering column. Lacks niceties like cargo bed lamp, remote fuel hatch release, etc. Its no Tundra but doesnt cost nearly as much either. And its a big step up from the Tacoma. Friends say the resale on it will be awful, nobody wants them. I say, "Resale? Im going to drive it until it falls apart."

Best Vehicle Ive Ever Owned - 1997 Toyota T100
By Stephen - February 24 - 12:23 amI bought this vehicle new and have put nearly every mile on it. The truck has far exceeded my expectations. It is now over 11 years old and has 215,000 miles on it. Outside of normal maintenance items, the only things Ive replaced are the drivers seat belt, a $30 switch to the 4wd solenoid, and the CV boots. Thats it! The truck averages 20 mpg which I consider great for a nearly full size truck with 4wd. It does have the manual transmission and Im still on the first clutch but shifting is starting to get rougher (synchronizer?) Driving at 65 mph with no A/C, it gets 21 to 23 mpg. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a reliable truck. I wish they still made them!

97 4x4 SR5 Ext cab... what a truck - 1997 Toyota T100
By nashvegas - January 31 - 12:16 pmBought a new (used) 97 T100 and cant say enough good about the truck. Just changed out timing belt/water pump and cv boots/front axles- 143,000 well taken care of miles from previous owner. Added chrome nerf bars and Zaino clay bar and wax. What a beaut. Ride and handling is adequate, mechanical quality is simple yet superb and exterior styling just make this truck special and will hold its value for years to come. Buy one that has been treated well if you can find one.

Good Truck - 1997 Toyota T100
By Kipg - July 19 - 10:00 amI have had minor troubles with this truck. I have 85k miles on it and it runs like a top. A few frustrations have been the exhaust crossover pipe and the antilock brakes. The crossover pipe bolts came loose and made a terrible noise that took awhile to find the source of. (OK now) The antilock brakes, well, I just dont like them in general. Nothing particularly bad about Toyotas. All I can say is that it is a very good feeling knowing that you have a Toyota when the miles start climbing over 60k.

Total reliability - 1997 Toyota T100
By daleer - July 19 - 10:00 amMy t-100 has 70,000 miles on it now and Ive never had to do any repairs at all. Thats right - not one problem in 70,000 miles and all I do is change the oil. Its a good looking and great truck overall (engine is a little underpowered with my suspension lift and big tires) but the reliability of this truck is what makes it awesome!

T100 It keeps running & running. - 1997 Toyota T100
By Rick Obeid - January 16 - 7:20 pmI purchased my T100 in Jan 1997 with the idea that I would use it to get back and forth to work and light hauling such as my 14ft. Alumnacraft boat. In almost 11 years of ownership it has never left me stranded. Ive had two problems with the truck where the repair costs were over $150. The first was AC related and was covered by the standard warranty. The second repair was more of a wear issue, the valve cover gaskets needed replacing. The truck started leaking very small amounts of oil. All other repairs have been minor or routine maintenance. Im selling the truck to a friend because he needs a reliable fuel efficient vehicle. Good luck finding one!
