This Year's Model Updates:

The standard 4.7-liter V8 now delivers 282 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque and is hooked to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Sequoia also gets a new front fascia and grille, redesigned taillamps, an in-glass antenna and color-keyed fender flares. A new sport package for the SR5 includes foglamps, tubular running boards, a height-adjustable rear suspension, a front skid plate, the JBL premium sound system and 16-inch alloy wheels. A new Limited Luxury package includes second-row leather bucket seats, a removable center console, unique wood trim, electroluminescent gauges, the height-adjustable rear suspension and memory for the driver seat and outside mirrors. Other additions include available push-button engagement for the 4WD system and an optional navigation system. There's also a new rollover sensor that triggers the side and head curtain airbags in the event of a rollover accident. A third-row center headrest has been added to all Sequoias.

Pros:
  • Refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, Toyota reputation for reliability.
Cons:
  • Nondescript styling, low towing capacity for a full-size SUV.

I was looking for a smaller SUV, having previously owned Suburbans. The room in the Sequoia is great and with the three seats, any place you sit you have a lot of room, unlike my Suburban.

  • best in class...by far - 2005 Toyota Sequoia

I looked at every SUV in the $35-$45k range. This had it all by far. The quality starts the moment you open and shut the door. Its just built better than the others I looked at.

Comfort, and handling are excellent. The clock and climate control instruments are hard to read as they is low and to the side. The car also vibrates at a harmonic frequency when you drive with the rear windows down.

Bought an 05 Limited 4x4 in May. Nice, roomy, well thought out. Gets better mileage (15/18) than the 6 cylinder Land Cruiser (13/15)I had before this! Purposely waited deep into the model year to hopefully have the bugs mentioned in the forums ironed out. So far, so good! 5 speed is smooth and sure. No vibrations, wind noises, ABS/VSC/transmission issues or annoyances. Plenty of power with the 05 V8. Would have liked the Nav, but did not want the rear DVD and Luxury package options. Seemed like these three were all lumped in together in the vehicles available. A Garmin StreetPilot c330 fixed that! All in all, a great truck for my needs. Plenty of room, nice style and performance.

Purchased the 2005 Sequoia Limited with the LUXURY package. Gives you a removeable console with 2nd row bucket seats. Paint is the new Artic Frost Pearl. Only available in that trim. So far in 3 days PERFECT. Made a Navigator I was looking at seem like a piece of junk. Great car, side curtain air bags, more HP, 5 gears, list 46K, bought for just under 41K. In this class of vechical I do not think you could do better. The dealership I bought one at gave us extra oil chagnes and even a extra detailing. Even sending me a basket of cookies. Anyone wanting a good internet purchase in Atlanta , found the place. Even have massage and manicure for woman who bring their car in for service.

Only 800 mi. on my new Sequoia and I could not be happier. I went to a dealer 200 mi. from home and Im glad I did! I added a set of 20" Weld wheels & tires and a custom 15" DVD screen & console mounted player that puts the factory unit to shame. Black Pearl emblems look great with the Phantom Grey Pearl paint!

After a full month of intensive research, I found the following: Best Resale Value (Sequoia), Best Overall Reliability (Sequoia), Best Safety Features (Sequoia-I got the front and rear side cutain airbags with rollover protestion package). Yes the Sequoia costs a litle more in the beginning, but because of resale value and reliability it costs you less in the long run. Additonally, my dealer (Stokes Brown Toyota) provided me with a great deal and has excellent service after the sale (This is my second Toyota from them). Plus its built in Indiana, so you can feel good that you are buying a vehicle that provides jobs to Americans.

  • Well built - 2005 Toyota Sequoia

Compared with Nissan Armada and Honda Pilot. Bought Sequoia to replace our aging minivan. Love the car; well designed and built. Reliable and durable....cant wait for a long trip.
