This Year's Model Updates:

Already sporty-looking, the RAV4 compact SUV gets even sportier thanks to a new optional sport package that adds a new grille, a hood scoop, color-keyed door handles, heated exterior mirrors, tubular roof rack and gray-painted bumpers and overfenders. Inside, the package adds special sport fabric seats.

Pros:
  • Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, well-built interior.
Cons:
  • Small displacement engine for the class, noisy, most of the desirable equipment is optional.

Before buying my RAV4 I researched for 6 months going back and forth between it and the Mazda Tribute. Well, the RAV won hands down. I loved the reliability and the ratings it got from experts and other consumers. I dont regret buying it at all!

  • 4 yr / 100K Review - 2003 Toyota RAV4

After 4 yrs and 100K+ miles on my RAV4 I have had no problems whatsoever. What a great car. This is my first Toyota. No wonder people love em. Has been to the dealer for routine maintenance only. I seem to have finally done something to it: there is a slight squeak under the dashboard that I plan to have fixed soon. Besides that all I have spent on it is fuel and oil only. Too bad the new one is an oversized version, this was the perfect size (and I am 6"1 220 lbs).

This Rav4 is my third Toyota, previously had 2 pick-ups. The RAV lives up to the Toyota reputation good mileage, reliability and a sturdy 4cyl engine. I do a lot of driving often in bad weather and the RAV gets me through, though with a little less bravado than my old Tacoma. The RAVs interior cargo space makes it a fair trade off.

The RAV4 L I purchased in December is one of the finest vehicles I have ever owned. It is quiet and idles like our Toyota Camry. It is fun to drive and is outstanding in snow!

Fell in love at first sight and after several days, I am still in awe when I consider the total perfection of this vehicle. The exterior design has much appeal as has the interior. Further, it has plenty of pep and handles beautifully in all traffic conditions. I like the 2-wheel drive as it burns less gas.

  • Never thought Id love an SUV! - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I bought this car to replace my 97 Honda Civic. I have owned Toyotas in the past and I have always loved them. However, I was not prepared to fall in love with this car before I had even driven off the dealers lot for the test drive! Some have mentioned it being underpowered, but I dont find the manual shift to be underpowered at all. It is a little noisy in the cabin, but this is an SUV, not a Lexus sedan.
