This Year's Model Updates:

Already sporty-looking, the RAV4 compact SUV gets even sportier thanks to a new optional sport package that adds a new grille, a hood scoop, color-keyed door handles, heated exterior mirrors, tubular roof rack and gray-painted bumpers and overfenders. Inside, the package adds special sport fabric seats.

Pros:
  • Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, well-built interior.
Cons:
  • Small displacement engine for the class, noisy, most of the desirable equipment is optional.

  • An excellent vehicle - 2003 Toyota RAV4

We owned this car for 12 years and it was as trouble-free as a vehicle could be. Basically, you never had to worry about something going wrong. Driver vision was excellent and seating was comfortable. We took it on four around-the-country trips and never had a problem other than a flat tire.

I love my RAV4. I cannot say enough good about it. The fit and finish is excellent, performance is good and ride is good. I test drove the CRV and there is no comparison. The CRV felt and looked cheap and the controls were awkward.

  • Fun to drive but under powered - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I considered a Honda CRx and the Rav4. I bought the RAV4 because of the better looks and handling. They both need more power. My 1993 Honda prelude SI is much quicker, with 160 vs 148 on the Rav4. Mileage is about the same 23 overall. The RAV4 is much more comfortable and has 4 wheel drive, needed in WI in the winter.

I love my RAV4-L! The way it handles and the quiet ride are a great selling point. I love the 4WD, fog lights, and the design inside and out. Everyone at work has complimented it and my family and friends love it too. This is my second Toyota and I know its going to be as great as my first Toyota.

  • The number 1 SUV - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I have owned other Ravs in the past, but this one is the best. The exterior styling is excellent, and the gas mileage is superb. The engine is fine for hauling people and even passing on the highway. Also, the handling is excellent, and it is very secure on the turns.

Vehicle is ideal for short person like me. I need to be up higher and closer to controls, which are same as Camry. Ride not as comfortable as Camry but fun. Concern about lack of rear bumper. Brakes not as responsive as Camry.Am happy with my choice.

  • Love my rav4 - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I just purchased a 2003 pre-owned RAV4 after owning a 4Runner Sport V8 for over 8 years. I loved my 4Runner and hated to sell it, but it was time to "downsize" to something smaller with better gas mileage. I couldnt be happier!! After one week, I still cant wait to drive it the next day. Its the perfect size for me and fun to drive. I love the large front windshield visibility, tight steering, and turning radius. I look forward to owning this RAV4 for a long long time!! Im a Toyota fan forever!

  • Love it! - 2003 Toyota RAV4

I purchased my 2003 Rav4 with the sports package a week and a half ago. I traded in my 98 Corolla. The Rav is great for people with physical limitations. I have arthritis in my hips, back issues, shoulder problems and have not had as much pain since driving the Rav. There are two complaints, first is there is no get up and go which is dangerous in my opinion - my Corolla hauled a$$! Secondly the stereo system is horrible, I cannot get the local stations that I used to get in the Corolla. The sound of the stereo(CD player) is good. My dog loves having his own space in the back, and I love not having dog fur all over the vehicle. So far, all is well!

  • Carve up the backroads - 2003 Toyota RAV4

Nice engine. Quiet. Excellent stereo. Superb handling. I drive 30 miles each way to work (27mpg). Back roads and 2 lane highway. I bought this SUV for the FT4WD and the stickshift. I didnt want a computer deciding when to engage the 4WD. I also test drove CRV, Saturn, Forester, Imprezza, others... I was really excited when I first purchased it. My wife likes it. Now after 3 months, I am very satisfied. I cant wait for a lot of snow this winter to test the FT4WD. With a rear-facing car seat, my 56" wife has 1" of kneeroom between the glovebox. Forward facing car-seat provides adequate room in front seat.

  • The RAV 4 is one of the Best! - 2003 Toyota RAV4

The RAV 4L is well built and very reliable. It is a lot of fun to drive since it can corner on a dime with minimum body roll. The Toyota quality is apparent through out the exterior and interior of the mini suv. Gas mileage is excellent all around on regular unleaded gas.
