Overview & Reviews
Toyota has given the RAV4 a midcycle freshening for 2004. Notable improvements include a larger 161-horsepower, 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine, a mild restyling that gives it a more aggressive appearance, and inside, a new steering wheel and instrument panel. Standard equipment has increased significantly, with stability and traction control, antilock brakes, air conditioning and a six-speaker stereo heading up the list. Multistage front airbags are also new this year, and side airbags for front occupants and full-length head curtain airbags are now optional.
- Steers and handles like a car, thoughtful cabin design, exemplary build and materials quality, refined engine.
- Somewhat cramped interior, high repair costs in low-speed rear collisions.

The Perfect Car - 2004 Toyota RAV4
By canyongirl - February 26 - 10:00 amI love it. I have had it for a month now. 1,120 miles and I love it more everyday. I have th L pkg with Leather, moon roof the works it is awesome. I live in the Bay area and traffic is insane. The visabilty make changing lanes much easier. I no longer mind ( well not as much) sitting in endless traffic. I also travel out of town for work I use to enjoy renting cars. Now i just miss my car.,

My Rav4 - 2004 Toyota RAV4
By John Schwarz - January 2 - 10:00 amUp to now I have driven only 1900 miles on my new Rav4 2004. The reading of the clock is hard to see from the driving position. It is too bad that there is no rear bumper, I worry that somebody may hit the rear door. So far I have not had a mileage reading of 23 mpg. per the window sticker. I have had a reading of under 22 mpg., but mostly 19 mpg.

Love it! - 2004 Toyota RAV4
By Hugh & Ginger - December 2 - 10:00 amMore fun to drive than my 525i BMW. Engine is a little loud on rapid acceleration. I am heavy on the accelerator and get 25 mpg city and over 30 highway. The 2004 has the upgraded engine with more horses. Ride is very comfortable but stiff and very agile.

04 Rav4 what a car - 2004 Toyota RAV4
By EMAN - October 31 - 10:00 amThe 04 Rav4 is a fantastic SUV. It handles the road well and the performance of the vehicle is incredible with the larger engine. The double wishbone suspension at the back is a welcomed improvement. The fog lamp design for the front of the vehicle is impressive and inside the cosmetic changes are very nice to see. You would be crazy not to consider this vehicle is you are searching for an SUV.

A great, fun car. But it does ratttle! - 2004 Toyota RAV4
By Cchap - October 19 - 2:00 amLove the look, performance, feel, and gas mileage of the car. Very fun to drive (and Im coming from a recent model BMW). Only criticism is what others have mentioned: mysterious rattles that can be very annoying. Otherwise it is a great car.
