  • Value for money - 2003 Toyota Matrix

The toyota matrix xr awd is a true value for money.definitely looks much better than pontiac vibe. Reliable driving on snow, versatile design, sporty looks and ample space makes ideal for a single person or a family with a small child. Its awd really works, the wider tires also help. Ample head room with a more upright seating than a sedan. Acceleration in the initial 2-3 seconds is a little slow, gear change in the automatic transmission; it down shifts a little slower than I desire. Unstable when driving in heavy cross winds at speeds above 70 mph. Over all very satisfied with my decision to buy this car.

  • I LOVE THIS CAR - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I thought I wanted a RAV4, but after I drove the Matrix I took it home. The one I test drove had all the features I wanted or needed, and the more I drive it, the happier I am with it. I thought I would hate those notorious red neon dials, but they are very good for night driving. The inside is roomy and comfortable, the hatchback is convenient. I feel like I got more than my moneys worth with this car.

  • Traded in SUV for Matrix- Love it! - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I bought my Matrix XR about 8 days ago. I love it. I use to drive a SUV and I loved its big cargo area and didnt really want to give it up. But Arianna Huffington got to my conscience as well as seeing $1.98 for regular gas. I wanted a small SUV with great gas mileage. People laughed at me. But I have found it in the Matrix. Love the way it looks, great cargo area. But my favorite things are the great pep it has and great gas mileage. Drove it up the California Coast. Without any effort, I was going 90. I got close to 38 per gallon. It is not the fanciest, I sort of miss the leather in my SUV but it is a great car. Love it.

Excellent vehicle with superior build quality. Car does not have any squeaks or rattles and the interior gaps are tight.

  • Hit the jackpot - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I bought my Matrix, new, in Sept 02 and since then have only put 52K on it. I have done all of the routine maintenance and have only ever had to replace the serpentine belt a few times and one brake light bulb. This car has been more reliable than I ever could have hoped for. Plus, it has great cargo capacity. I can load it with dozens of bags of mulch, or a weeks worth of camping gear. Even my 29 inch mountain bike fits in the back with the seats down. I will admit, on long drives the seating position can become annoying, but bring a small pillow or something and you can go for hours, plus, you wont need to stop for gas often! Avg MPG, 30 in summer, 26 in winter.

  • The Last Shall Be First - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Im over 80 so I know this will be my last car purchase. The quality of this car is excellent. One complaint would be with the horsepower (128), since Ive always liked to step on it. The storage space is well thought out. The display needs a switch to light it up for daytime viewing. I am very happy with my purchase and would do it over again if I had to buy another car.

  • Very Happy, a Few Minor Problems - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

Overall I am very happy with this car, but I am only going to list the problems I have with it since mindlessly praising Toyota isnt very constructive. The problems are: 1)Suphur smell coming from the engine, I can get rid of it though by selecting recirculating air. Im not sure whether this is because of the gas I am buying or the Matrix. This only occurs when I am idling with the Matrix pointed up on a hill. 2)There is a intermittent sound of sand coming from the driver side dash. 3)High idle RPMs. Starting the Matrix even when it is above freezing can result in RPMs over 2000 for at least a minute, it also flucuates quite a bit for no reason.

  • All Purpose Vehicle - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

The Matrix meets my needs in every way imaginable. Great gas mileage for my daily 30 mile commute (each way), comfortable rear seating for my two young children, sports car-like drive and looks terrific. I owned a 2001 Focus ZX3. The Matrix is a different class of car. More room, more comfortable and more standard features.

  • Toyota needs to figure it out interiors. - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

Our family pretty much only purchases toyotas for their reliability and mpg, however, I will no longer be following this trend. Toyota really needs to figure out interior drivers legroom issues in ALL of their models. Theres no reason why the front seat should not be able to move back another 4-6 inches. This vehicle will be cramped if you are over 57".
