  • Catch me if you can!!! - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Ive waited 5 months for my new Matrix, and it is well worth the wait. Ive owned a ford escort, a BMW 3 series and a Toyota 4runner. None of them gives me the satisfaction that I get from my Matrix. So far the only thing that annoys me is other drivers on the road. They ride beside you to get a closer look, sometimes almost hitting you. Of, course then I must down shift and say bye bye!!

  • Manual trans is a piece of junk - 2003 Toyota Matrix

My manual transmission fell apart at 5 mths past warranty in 2007 as have many others since. Youll find plenty of posts on this website under Matrix Transmission Problems. Do not under any circumstances buy a used 2003 or 2004 manual transmission Matrix or you will sadly pay the price at around 60-100,000 miles. The transmission has been proven to have a faulty bearing which of course Toyota will not admit and take responsibility for. I had Toyotas from 1990-2007 and will never own another one in the next 50y.

  • Great car! - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I bought this car new in May 02 after waiting for someone to bring out a new 4-door hatchback for years. Ive had 4- door manual transmission hatchbacks my whole life and after my Tercel died in 96 was making do with a used Honda wagon. The Matrix is the best all- around car Ive owned--roomy inside, small enough outside to park and maneuver easily, lots of user-friendly comfort features, super-dependable, good safety features, and GREAT mileage (average is about 33). A super blend of commuter car and SUV-like carrying capacity. All seats are comfortable and the flat-fold rear and passenger seats make it easy to load all sorts of things that would be hard to get into other vehicles.

  • XRS Review (Toronto Canada) - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I love this car! i drove a Civic HB for five years, and this was a natural replacement. The more powerful engine is lots of fun, and still gets good mileage when need on long trips. I drove from Toronto to Banff with two passengers and loved every mile.

  • I finally got the car I wanted! - 2003 Toyota Matrix

Great car/suv/wagon. All the flexibility of an suv without the extra cost and low fuel mileage. Great MPG, great interior and exterior design. I can take my dog and all my stuff and still have room for more. All the car I wanted at a reasonable price

  • Great Car For The Price - 2003 Toyota Matrix

One test drive at the dealership and I was hooked. I recommend getting the XR sport package with fog lights, moon roof, and the 17" alloy wheels over anything. The base model is missing some of the more fun features of the XR, while the top of the line XRS has the more powerful 180 HP engine. However, you really wont notice a difference with the added HP until youre at higher speeds (50+ MPH) and its not worth the extra $3,000 or so the dealership will hit you up for. Overall the Matrix XR is a great car and the reasonable pricing makes it well worth it.

overall the matrix is not only one of the best values toyota offers, it is also one of the best values out of any mid size car on the market. where else can you get 53 cubes of cargo space, 36mpg, amazing handling, and most important, toyota fit+finish and reliability.

Hate not being able to control the lights. The other day the lights switched between running lights and regular lights 8 times on the way to work as I went in and out od the shade.

  • Stylin Ride, but a few minor bugs - 2003 Toyota Matrix
    By -

I bought the automatic (wife insisted) so was expecting it to be sluggish, but it zipped along nicely. Well designed, but initial quality not great. The trash compartment under the gear shift would pop open with the slightest bump. Also the cover for the manual release button for the transmission was missing when I bought the car. I asked 3 sales people about the cover, they all said there was no cover. Also I just noticed the display panel is abraded in a circular pattern, like it was scrubbed. So nice little car, lots of features, but I was expecting better initial quality from Toyota.

  • Matrix XRS = Stlylish, Reliable, & Fun - 2003 Toyota Matrix

I have been driving the 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS close to 10 months now. It has been a great experience day in, day out. The Matrix XRS is a very unique blend of three Toyota models. The front end, suspension, tires, and engine is very similar to, if not exactly the same as Toyotas sporty Celica GT-S. It features the interior of the Corolla S fused with the Rav 4s exterior. This car has great handling, top-end speed, functionality, and comfort. I like making sharp turns and know that the suspension and tires will grip the road with confidence. Overall, the Toyota Matrix XRS is a solid purchase that is sure to please many.
