Overview & Reviews
The Matrix receives a revised front bumper, taillights and grille to freshen up the exterior, along with a new audio head unit design, optional side curtain airbags and other minor interior changes. Stability control is also newly optional.
- Versatile cargo area, roomy rear seats, good gas mileage, generous standard equipment list, availability of all-wheel drive and stability control.
- Modest torque output, less fun to drive than its styling suggests.

Fantastic! - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By foxxy1 - August 3 - 2:13 amI just bought the car yesterday and I love it. Its very roomy; big enough to fit my 6"4 father and two small nephews. The handling is great and the gas mileage is so far so good! A very pleasant surprise! Highly recommend!

Good all around hauler - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By stoutbrewer - July 25 - 10:00 amI traded in my 2003 Tacoma four door in on the Matrix XR. Getting 25 MPG in mostly city driving is a refreshing change. The base engine could use more torque to get it moving. The car handles well and manuvers in parking lots with ease. The interior is very functional and easy to configure. Toyota redid the chin spoiler so it looks better and doesnt scrape like the older models. As with most Toyotas the Matrix will hold its value, be low maintenance and be trouble free over the log haul. Its a good alternative to a SUV. The worst problem I had was blind spots. I bought two small mirrors and the problems solved.

I LOVE THIS CAR - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By Terri - May 7 - 2:36 amI love this car. I had a Rav 4 for 6 days and hated it. This was just what I wanted. A good cross between a SUV and a car. Its easier to handle than an SUV and its great on gas. I always get around 28 in City driving.

Magnificant Matrix - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By buddyl030 - April 25 - 10:00 amWith the rear seats down its a cargo van. Seats 4 comfortably but taxes the engine somewhat. I am averaging 33-34 mpg. With the gear shifter in the park position the heater/ac/fan switches are hard to access. Handles like a sports car. Corners flat and precise.

Small car with big feel - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By ckp - February 8 - 12:20 amI bought this car to save money on gas over my F-150 4x4. The mileage is great at between 29-32 MPG city driving back and forth to work. Im 65" and am amazed at how comfortably I fit into it. Its a very reliable car, in 18 months, I have had no problems. I change the oil and put gas in it. The interior is awesome with multiple seat configurations when I need space. The outlet in the dash is cool, as are all of the other features I have (premium sound, 17" wheels, sun roof, cruise and A/C). With the 5 speed, it runs very well (not a race car), to include highway traffic with the A/C on - no problems!

What else can I ask for? - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By New Toyota Lover - February 4 - 9:50 pmBought mine during the Presidents Day sale at $17400 after the $500 rebate with the Pkg #2 & the 6-CD system. Ample rear seat space. Im 511". When I sit in the back, at least 2" b/w my knees and the bk of the front seat. The ride comfort is sacrificed by the sports tuned suspension for better cornering. I was able to keep up with my friends Mustang at a sharp turning exit ramp while the other cars just gradually became smaller on my rear-view mirror. I expected more from the premium 6-speaker stereo though. The old 4-speaker stereo in my 03 Camry sounds a lot better. You will love the versalite cargo space, trust me! Other cool features incld. 110V outlet, tire pressure monitor.
