I love this car. I just replaced my 90 Corolla with the Matrix, and I am so impressed with this ride. Its so high and comfortable and has plenty of pep.

This car is great. I love being able to fold down the seats (I think my Matrix actually fits more than my pick-up truck bed). The car is comfortable, great fuel economy and very roomy for a car of its size. The only real complaint that I have is that the tires that Toyota puts on are crap (noisy, very slippery in inclement conditions, and are already cracking with 26,000 miles on the car) but that should be remedied when we replace them. Great car, great value, would definitely recommend.

  • What happened to Toyota? - 2005 Toyota Matrix

I ordered my Toyota Matrix with a 5speed manual trans. I have always driven manual and wanted to continue. My car is 4 years old and Im installing a new clutch! My last Toyota Corolla was 15 years old and no clutch. I also had to replace the tires at about 15K miles. I had a little Chevy S10 p/u with manual trans and it was great except I wanted more interior. It was 5 years and I didnt have to replace anything. What has happened to Toyotas? Im so disappointed.

After searching for about 6 months we finally decided to go with the Matrix. We test drove everything from a Mazda to a Pontiac and decided on the Matrix. With two children and two adults in it on a road trip it was excellent. Not a complaint about room or my side your side stuff. All of our friends and family couldnt believe for the money how many features we got.

  • My 05 just rolled 10k, I love it! - 2005 Toyota Matrix

I love this car! I am a mother of two, I camp, have pets a home and work. I can do so much with this car. Tons of space, fun to drive, great on gas, smart features, and the stick gives a bit more power than the automatic. Always wanted a Toyota, and have always owned Fords or GM, never again. Very veristile, nimble and comfortable. Also can hold its speed well. Narrow tires great in the snow, even without the AWD. Well worth it car.

  • Needs work - 2005 Toyota Matrix

Has been very reliable, gas mileage could def. be better for such a small vehicle. Family of four is comfortable on short travel, bit cramped in long travel. Does have good capacity in hatch to carry things. Many issues with interior, but none mechanically. Very loud street noise and is very rough ride as all Toyotas are in my opinion. Overall have 80,000 miles on it and going strong! No mechanical issues what so ever. Tires were replaced within 1st year. All cars should be standard equipped with back window wiper as it is a huge danger to not have one like me! It stays filthy because of design and mix filth with fog or rain and no wiper and you got problems! Dependability you cant beat!

  • Only one complaint - 2005 Toyota Matrix

I traded in a GMC Suburban and wanted a "big" car - its height and spacious interior are great and there is a lot of storage room especially with the seats folded down. even very tall passengers are comfortable in the back seat. it gave me zero trouble during the worst snowstorms of our Canadian winters and actually surprised me by how well it handled snowstorm-highway- driving. only complaint is LOTS of noise when driving at high speeds on the highway. so noisy that passengers in the back cannot hear a word of the conversation going on in the front seats.

A very nice automobile. We have owned other Toyotas and I am equally happy with thi one. We just took it on a 200 mile trip and it was very comfortable. I highly recommend this vehicle. We got good fuel economy, approximately 29-30 MPG.

  • The Best of Toyota - 2005 Toyota Matrix

This car is worth every penny... and that isnt much to pay. The quality of Toyota is everywhere within this car. The gas mileage is great, it looks great, and performs the same way with the Toyota dependability. It is roomy enough for family travel, great leg room! Load it up and go. Whether youre going around town or on a long trip, you cannot go wrong with this vehicle. I now know what my next vehicle is going to be!

  • Aghh, Not Impressed - 2005 Toyota Matrix

Too bad, I bought this car new, because Im not a fan. Walking into the dealership it was all about getting a car with good gas mileage. But stepping down from a Subaru Forester made the Matrixs shortcomings more obvious. Dislikes: Seating position. I feel like Im sitting in a booster chair-- Not comfortable. Puny engine. Toyota sells this car as sporty. If youre looking for somewhat-sporty styling, but poor agility this is your car. Rapid acceleration is labored. The Matrix also seems to rock from front to back. Tires are tiny. Especially dislike occasionally bottoming out in this car with low grills & bumper. Miss everything about my Subaru Forester but the gas mileage
