Overview & Reviews
The Matrix receives a revised front bumper, taillights and grille to freshen up the exterior, along with a new audio head unit design, optional side curtain airbags and other minor interior changes. Stability control is also newly optional.
- Versatile cargo area, roomy rear seats, good gas mileage, generous standard equipment list, availability of all-wheel drive and stability control.
- Modest torque output, less fun to drive than its styling suggests.

I LOVE MY MATRIX - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By NIN - February 15 - 10:56 amCar is excellent on gas.... great for moms like me with active kids.... big cargo for groceries. I downsized from the Toyota sienna... also an excellent auto... just too big for me... no more strollers or diaper bags to lug around... matrix doesnt look like the big wagon from the 70s. Nice and sporty for the on the go mom.

Spunky car - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By cmpchicky - February 14 - 11:40 amThe XRS model is good for those who love to drive. The fuel economy can be better - it requires fuel with octanes of 91 or higher. It could hurt the wallet if you drive a lot. Otherwise, i love it.

NEW NEW NEW - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By Matrixlove - January 26 - 1:06 amLOVE IT. What more can I say? Could use a bit more passing power but I dont want to give up the mpg. We got the automatic but I recommend the stickshift. If I had to do it over I wouldnt get the auto. It sucks too much juice out of the engine at high speeds. Otherwise I wouldnt change a thing.

very fun car - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By smo302 - September 8 - 4:46 amI traded in a 2002 Nissan XTerra for this cars so I went from 14 mpg to 32 mpg. I love it. I drive 250 mi a week to work so I need great mpg, but to get a fun car that definitely can move out of its own way is great. Thinking about purchasing the supercharger from TRD. This will give it the same power as the XRS model for about the same price. Otherwise I am very pleased at the power above 4000 rpm for a little 4-cylinder engine. We shall see what winter brings without a 4 wheel drive anymore it will be interesting.

MY MATRIX ON THE RUN - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By chess - July 6 - 10:56 amThe Matrix 4wheel drive handles the road well in all types of weather. I take it everywere, ive put 11,000 miles on it in only 6 months. Long drives are mostly pain free and theres plenty of room for 4 adults and luggage. I get 30 miles to the gallon on an average. Its a fun car to drive.

"GREAT" Purchase!!! - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By Julie Alvarado - May 22 - 3:16 pmIts been 11 months since I made a great choice to buy a Matrix XR. I was on the market for 3 months for a Toyota Corolla Sport, and as I walked onto the Penske dealership in Downey, CA I came across the funniest looking little wagon that somehow grew on me and till this day is still growing. I love the interior as well as the exterior. My whole family fits comfortably and I know we will all get to our destination in a reliable and safe manner.

4th Toyota/They get better! - 2005 Toyota Matrix
By Arizona Bob - May 6 - 2:03 pmIt amazes me how versatile the Matrix is. I have now had it about a week and have put close to 500 miles on it. No complaints! Nothing to return to the dealer for. The storage space with the seats down and the high opening helped this morning. I had four high boxes of Lilies (8 to a box) and had room left over. Interstate driving at 80 mile per hour is quiet and stable. The dealer service was also above average, I LIKE IT!
