I have the Speedway Blue M-Theory Special Edition. Awesome 17" wheels & spoiler. Chicks love the car! Seriously. Mines a 5 speed & still has little power, but I dont mind. I usually get about 32 mpg, but I drive about 80% city miles. Havent been on a long road trip to test strict highway mileage. Im 63" & car has plenty of room for me. The seat is only halfway back! Ride is a little rough with "sporty" suspension on M Theory. Occasionally clicking sound in brakes, dealer says is normal - thats a little annoying. Fun to drive!

  • GOOD CHOICE BUT ONE QUIRK - 2007 Toyota Matrix

We bought our second hand 07 Matrix XR in April of 07 and had it for almost 3 yrs. It has been very reliable. It has adequate power and is decent on fuel (about 42 miles/imperial gallon). It is extremely versatile and has great interior room. With winter snow tires, traction is excellent and it has no problem handling our Canadian winters. It does have one quirk and Im not sure if our car is unique. It has the standard 1.8 engine and an automatic transmission. I brought it in a couple of times to the dealership and mentioned that it did not upshift smoothly after slowing down in city traffic. They couldnt help but by accident I realize that burning higher octane fuel solved the problem.

  • Decent city car - 2007 Toyota Matrix

I traded in a Subaru for the Matrix and I miss the power. The Toyota is a nice solid car and fits a dog well, lots of storage, very comfortable driving and comfortable for four adults. The center console is messy and doesnt fit a coffee cup w handle. Acceleration is kind of lame, you have to be light on the gas or youll squeal the tires. Ill keep it because its so economical and dependable. I havent put a cent into it. But it is boring and really pretty terrible in the snow we have in Michigan.

  • Two years later - 2007 Toyota Matrix

Purchased this car two years ago and havent had any trouble with it. Its engine is noisy especially when the air conditioner is being operated. Driving up hills can add to the noise. The interior is useful and it comes it handy when transporting odd shaped objects. All in all I would purchase this vehicle again. I have to say its a great transportation car and the price was just over $13000.00 (new) gas mileage is only twenty -two combine but gets a good 32 mpg on the highway to and from Vegas.

  • Wont buy another - 2007 Toyota Matrix

I purchased my 2007 Matrix XR brand new, no one else even test drove it. I have 30,000 miles on it and so far at less than 20,000 miles they had to resurface the rotors, but the pads are just fine. They then replaced the belt. Then, they replaced the water pump and the belt again! Today I was driving down the road and it just died. Its in the shop right now. I dont know yet what this latest problem it, but of course it is out of warranty now. The car style is great for hauling stuff. Love the fold down back and passenger seats and love that the window in back opens without having to open the entire back.

  • All around hit - 2007 Toyota Matrix

This is my first new car purchase since 1994! I love my Matrix!! I never thought Id be able to afford the car I wanted but the Matrix was both affordable and comfortable. Its a great car for tailgating and for all my gardening adventures because it just wipes clean.

Might be a little under powered but a real fun car to drive. Auto, power windows, air, etc. I love hatchbacks, it has an extra wide opening and I can get all kinds of unconventional shape gear inside.

  • Second Review. Got rid of it. - 2007 Toyota Matrix
    By -

While the gas mileage was a definite plus, the lack of power in this vehicle and the size of other vehicles when driving the Matrix, made me get rid of it. I didnt have any problems with it mechanically. I guess the 4 cyl ran as it was supposed to. I havent had a 4 cyl for years so maybe it is just me, but the car lacks power and is loud. Low profile made for uneasiness driving in rainy weather. Being in Western PA, I felt that I should get rid of it for when it snows.

Great hauling space. Excellent mileage. Terrible radio display. Invisible with sunglasses on, especially on a sunny day. Rough ride, you can feel every bump. Jumps forward when moving from a stop. The PT Cruiser that the Matrix replaced was a better car to drive.

  • Reliable - 2007 Toyota Matrix

Our 07 Matrix is reliable. We needed that, since I work so far from home and cant be of much help if mom gets stuck and needs help. BUT, the amount of maintenance needed and the intervals of those appointments puts a strain on my alloted amount of days off!! OMG! Every month or so I "need" a preventive maintenance appointment. Dont the designers of these vehicles realize our lives dont revolve around the vehicles like theirs do? Expensive P.M.s also! Never will buy again. Back to Chevy! Also, maybe you can check into the morals of your dealers! Lost me and more than a few others too.
