This Year's Model Updates:

The all-new 2000 Toyota Celica is considerably more performance-oriented than the previous model. Highlights include a sleek exterior, a 180-horsepower engine and six-speed gearbox for the GT-S, and sharp handling.

Pros:
  • New styling, new engines, new excitement.
Cons:
  • Celica GT-S engine is peaky for in-town use.

Two weeks ago, I was driving a 97 corolla. It is slow and ugly and lacks the decent luxury features (intermitent wiper, didnt even come with a tape player - only radio, etc). Last weekend, my dad gave me a Celica. The car is a joy to drive. The only bad things about the car is the torque numbers and the lack of a rear seat. Whats good? Everything else.

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST CAR I EVER HAD! IT IS VERY RELIABLE AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL. I PICKED THIS CAR OVER THE MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE, DODGE AVENGER, MERCURY COUGAR AND ACURA INTEGRA. I DROVE ALL OF THEM BUT THE CELICA WAS JUST A BETTER CAR.

I love this car and Im so glad I bought it. Its affordable and stylish, way beyond the hondas you see around every corner. Although, due to a misshift (not mine) at redline I had severe problems including 4 bent valves, costing about $1,200. Something this car is notorious for. Never overrev while going forward. Never let your b/f drive your car! Lil boys shouldnt play with womens toys! hahaha

Quick and dependable, Ive driven this car alot of miles (53,500) and in most if not all driving situations. The performance is what sold me the car in the first place. Its cornering is superb, with a little bit of a loose feel when you get towards the edge. It can punch a hole through freeway packs with great accelaration from 60-90, nimble and precise steering, and small footprint. Had a couple 18-hour stints in the seat, and stayed comfortable. As far as dependability, though, Ive done little more than change the oil every 3 or 4k miles, and it still hums and drives like new.

My Celica is exemplary of solid, quality construction and performance, with a huge twist of fun. It handles easily and gets great gas mileage, which is a more important factor with each passing month. It has given me absolutely no trouble (knock on wood) - I only have routine maintenance performed on it as scheduled. Great Car - the best Ive owned!

Extremely fun car to drive. I get a lot of compliments on my gts. Never had any problems whats-so-ever out of it except the antenna is a little loose and makes some noise

Ive had my Red 2000 Toyota Celica GT for 2 years and have had only few repairs done to it. (Tire router, Tie rod, O2 sensor) and it runs amazingly. The Celica does not have the strongest engine, seeing its only a 1.8L engine with an inline 4, but it does have a surprisingly fast acceleration due to its light-weight design. My Celica has been turning heads everywhere I go, and thats half the fun of driving isnt it? She hugs turns with amazing grip. I can go 45mph on a highway ramp without any body roll! Ive kept her in amazing condition, and babied her for as long as Ive had her. I highly recommend buying a Celica if your looking for an inexpensive sports car.

This is my first brand new car and it is a great car! It is sporty with adequate performance and I love the styling (I still get compliments). It is also the most practical sports car, it can fit alot in the hatch when you have the back seats down, I fit my Christmas tree in it every year. I havent had any mechanical problems with it except for a squeaky serpentine belt, but I dont put many miles on a year.

  • My 5th Celica - 2000 Toyota Celica

This is my 5th Celica. Ive had a 78, 83, 86, 90 and bought this one brand new. My first new car. Have had no problems with it, with the exception of a head light burned out at 500 miles (under warranty) and the driver side window came off track at 1500 miles (also under warranty). I would recommend a toyota to anybody, just this car is not for all. It is on the small side and low to the ground and can become a problem getting in and out of it. Also the factory tires are junk and wore out (I dont get on the car) and had to be replaced at 32,000 miles.

Ive own 3 Toyotas from Camry, Supra, and now this Celica GTS. Mine is manual 6spd and its really fun car to drive!
