  • First car! - 1997 Toyota Celica

Bought this car as a reliable and safe daily driver; before seeing it, I had known nothing about 6GCs, and now Im pretty much obsessed. Handling is crisp, and the cars lightness is really apparent in braking, lane-change, and general handling capabilities. As long as you dont test the 7A-FE too much, its a really fun car to drive thatll return some pretty good MPG (unfortunately, I have the worst combo for power & MPG, an automatic coupled to the least powerful engine). Other than installing a new head unit and speakers, this car is stock, but completely livable. Interior is also great, I love how the center console is angled towards the driver, and the layout is very well thought-out.

I love this car so much I just want to drive it all the times. I bought a blue one with 108K miles a few months a go and drove it for 3 months and found another 1997 Limited Edition, black with tan top last week with 135K miles. This one drives like a new car. Everything works nicely and not a tear in the interior. Its beautiful and I am going to enjoy driving this for a long time. I will get the interior cover so that I dont have to raise or lower the top all the time. This is one way to preserve the motors. They are expensive and getting hard to find.

  • Amazing little cars. - 1997 Toyota Celica

Im amazed at the quality & overall craftsmanship Toyota put into this car. It ALWAYS starts. 5 speed combined w/ the 1.8 4cyl makes gas mileage INSANELY good! Full tank gets 400+ miles. Car is also super light & brakes easily/quickly. Ive seen alot of people complaining about a lack of power ...really? If you wanted power why would you buy a 4cyl "Sports" car? Ive never had a problem passing someone when needed. All-in-all I feel this car makes for aa good investment. 193k without a problem here!

This was has been really great car. It hasnt given me any problems and it very reliable. I still get 400-500 miles on a tank of gas. The only isssues were with a repair on the body which is starting to rust. This is not the fault of the car, but the repair shop. I still get a lot of compliments on the way the car looks. Im planning on buying a new car soon and giving this one to my nephew for college. Will be sorry to see it go, but I know it will serve him well during his college years.

I LOVE THIS CAR! It accommodates both my boyfriend [who is 6-1"] and myself [5-6"] comfortably. I drive it everyday and I drive anything but slow and the car keeps up. It hasnt let me down yet. If youre thinking of getting this car, do it.

  • As good or better than the new cars of its class - 1997 Toyota Celica

Its always been garaged. It belonged to my mother who was 90 when she passed it on to me. She bought it new and maintained it regularly and kept all the records. The color is a metallic dk. gold, with gold front and rear plating on the emblems and antennae tip. A couple of minor scratches where the trunk opens and a small paint scratch on the driver side door but no dents. The interior upholstery is excellent and with no tears. The tires are new Perelli with black and polished black twisted spokes size 16 radials. The stereo is new with cd and usb, with four spkrs. New top of the line Sears diehard battery. New wipers. Power adj. outside mirrors. Couldnt be much better if new. I rarely ever see this year and model on the road. It had 49300 miles when I aquired it.

  • Excellent convertible - 1997 Toyota Celica

Its a well-designed car, and after 10 years it still attracts positive comments from other motorists. The car continues to perform well. Weve driven it in Connecticut winters, and it handles well in snowy weather and with its well-lined top and good heater stays comfortable. Of course, its always great in warm weather -- it now resides in California.

  • My first car and I absolutely love it! - 1997 Toyota Celica

This car was designed and built for rally. If you know rally, you know the cars have to be quick, reliable and handle amazingly to win, and the celica is just that. Performance is rated down simply because a better engine exists. And I only rated it down for fuel economy and fun to drive because mine is an automatic. It only gets about 250 mi to the tank where a manual can get over 400. and manuals are just naturally more fun to drive.
