  • 200k and more - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

Im coming up on 200k on my very first and only factory set of brakes. I love this 4x4 as this is my 8th 4 Runner in a row Ive owned. Im now looking in to towing a travel trailer so Im following some other blogs recommendation not to exceed 5600 lbs total vehicle and trailer weight. So we will see what size trailer will max. Im figuring dry wt no more than 3000 lbs. Im shooting at 400k for this 2005 4 Runner. My plate is my id on this blog. Feel free to stop and chat.

  • 58,000 Miles Since I Bought New - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

This is my second review on this rig. First one was at about 27,000 miles. This is my 5th Toyota (4th new Toyota and second 4Runner). I have had no problems at all (knocking on wood). These are bulletproof vehicles if you service them regularly. The maintenance cost is very reasonable. I have found the longer I own a Toyota the more I like it. This one is still very solid. I did not like the OEM tires (Grand Trek) so I replaced them at 27k with the top of the line Toyos (HWY tread)... what a difference! Like putting a new suspension on. I have been very pleased with the MPG (21.8). Actually get better city than hwy because I keep it under 20000 rpm in the city but have a lead foot on the hwy.

  • Best Car I have ever Owned - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner drives like a sports car on the highway and perfoms like a Land Rover offroad. I have never felt a 4WD that takes washboard roads at 50 MPH without feeling a single vibration. I have taken it up super- steep rock hils in Moab, and driven it around the busy streets of Denver. It is extremely quiet and very solidly built.

  • Proven, Capable, SUV - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

Bought this used with 89,000 miles from a friend who took very good care of the vehicle. Cant be happier with my new purchase, extremely reliable, no rattles or squeaks. Gas mileage is the only sticking point, but was expected when purchasing the vehicle. Surprisingly, Im getting better gas mileage than what I expected. The trip computer on the car states 21.9 - 22 MPG, but calculating the mileage by hand is about 19 - 20.5 mpg. Thats with 50/50 city/hwy driving. Navigation is decent, slightly cumbersome system, not as easy as Garmin. Leather is like-new and heat seaters are amazing!

Great car, almost as fun to drive as the BMW 540 I had before this car. Very reliable, handles well, plenty of power out of the V6. 5 speed automatic transmission really sets this car apart.

Great vehicle. Bought the Limited version. Best SUV I have ever owned and have owned Ford Explorer, Chevy Blazer, Dode Durango. Great JBL 10 speaker 3-1 sound system. Very smooth ride and very quiet ride compared to previous vehicles owned.

AFTER OWNING SEVEN MERCEDES, ONE VOLVO AND VARIOUS OTHER MAKES THIS IS THE BEST EVER. IT HAS POWER AND COMFORT FOR LONG TRIPS AND UTILITY AS WELL. TOWING A TRAILER OR BOAT IS NO PROBLEM. THE TOYOTA DEALER PROVIDES FIRST CLASS SERVICE AS WELL. THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED WHERE I LIKE IT WELL ENOUGH TO PURCHASE EXTENDED WARRANTY INSURANCE UP TO 100000 MILES.

  • Quality SUV with a great ride - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

After one year of ownership I thought it good to provide a review. My 4Runner has been one of the best car purchases to date. After two cross country road trips my family loves this SUV. The ride and performance is exceptional given the size and weight - it drives like a vehicle half the size. V8 Power is awesome and provides excellent acceleration and power with reasonable MPG (18-20 MPG).

  • No Regrets - 2005 Toyota 4Runner

Just traded in my 01 4Runner for the 05 4Runner. Had serious reservations about releasing my old 4Runner. I loved it but needed 4WD. I test drove the Pathfinder and Honda Pilot. Both were not as fun to drive as my old 4Runner. Since my wife has a Landcruiser, I didnt need the V8 4Runner but the price was less than V6 (with rebates and dealer incentives),so I bought the 05 4WD V8 instead. This SUV is better in every way compared to my old 4Runner. It has effortless power and super smooth ride. As with my old 4Runner, the steering and braking is so much better than competition. The drive train feels better than the Landcruiser as well. The 4WD V8 4Runner is essentially the Landcruiser Prado

Wow! I tested everything (Pilot, Element, Outback, Pathfinder, X3, Explorer), read just about anything I could get my eyes on about mid-sized SUVs, and nothing could beat the 4Runner. Comfort, drivability, looks, price, and overall value - it just really offers the best of on-road and off-road performance. The first week I owned the car I took it on a three hour ski trip through two mountain passes in harsh winter driving conditions. It performed effortlessly in the snow and ice and quite frankly, turned what would have normally been a pretty stressful drive into a fun one! The 4WD and traction system are fantastic.
