Awesome - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By Bong Alquiroz - April 6 - 7:36 amWhen I bought my 4runner in 2004 I am not expecting that this car is that good, I am satisfied with the power and the stability when you are driving in the freeway, going up in the mountain and offroad, the engine is very quiet, gas mileage? Just right. What else can I say..it is an awesome SUV.

Great car - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By Rridgwa - March 18 - 10:00 amTraded my Explorer for this car. I needed the towing capacity, but am completely satisfied with everything. Well built, comfortable and better mileage than the V-6 Ford. 21 MPG on the highway. Climbs gravel mountain roads with ease and havent seen a boat ramp it wont pull my 4000 lbs boat out of. Even my wife noted, this car will go anywher. Great car.

Major Disappointment - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By JayEx - February 22 - 10:00 amI am extremely disappointed that when you let the rear seats down to utilize all of the rear cargo space, you have to slide the front seats forward to make room. I am 61" tall and this situation makes it very uncomfortable to drive. The Highlander I traded for this auto was much more satisfactory. Had I known this deficiency existed in the 4Runner, I would still own my Highlander.

Solid As A Rock - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By Ken - February 3 - 10:06 amOverall a good buy. No regrets. Well let me take that back. I probably should have gotten something better on gas!! Nevertheless the only mechanical issues Ive dealt with are the brakes and the gas tank door getting stuck. Like I said its a good solid buy. Like many other people, will have to decide whether to keep or find something with better gas mileage.

Straightforward Toyota - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By Ed - January 5 - 5:06 pmThis has been an excellent car so far. I bought it with 40k on it, and I have 56k on it now, and it has had no problems whatsoever. I just do my routine maintenance and it keeps going every time I need it. It is like any Toyota: not exciting in any way, but it does the job without any problems.

Toyota Quality, What an Urban Myth! - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By sampsonlab - January 1 - 11:53 pmAll four brake rotors warped at 22K. The windshield pops like a bowl of Rice Krispies in the winter. The flimsy chain that pulls the sunroof broke at 14 months. Dealer sent car to an upholstery shop to remove entire roof liner and all 8 pillar trims to repair. Power door lock broke. Main air bag computer fried and we had no airbags for a 900 mile planned trip. Seat belt latch hit door upholstery and door panel split open like a cheap piece of oil cloth. Cargo tie-down buttons fell out of side panels in rear. When replaced, they fit loose, hold no weight, and rattle. Rear window washer/wiper quit working. Paint finish does not hold wax. Leather seat split.
